Waarom de Nederlandse vastgoedmarkt ziek is, tenminste - waarom wonen zo kunstmatig duur gemaakt wordt ... Fijn en verhelderend artikel van De Correspondent weer (al zei het uit 2013)
 ·  Translate

I share your sentiments ;-)  ... Completely agree with your CGI point of view. But that's something I've been seeing more and more the past few years. Might be the fact that the image in general looks too clean these days. Back in '93 stuff could be hidden in the grain of the film (ad rain!) and the whole image not being as sharp as it is now. Matter of resolution increase not being the same as the increase in effort to make it look right - something like that.

Story-wise - yeah - it seems to become a bit of a 'monster movie' with dinos. I'm holding off final judgement on the story until I know the whole story. Give them a chance to convince me properly :-)

Ah well ... despite it all - it does look like it'll entertain me when it gets out in two months ;-)

+Ruben Kremer That's it exactly. You can only make good CGI if you're matching it to something real, like an animatronic that you're also using.
These days they opt for total CGI, which makes it harder for the digital effects artist to make look real, because they are forced to guess at the shading parameters.
The same goes for your point about realistic physics, because they'll accidentally drift into cartoonish movements as well without something grounded to base it on.

Blackmagic Design has just dropped the price of their global shutter Super-35 4K Production Camera. The official price now has been set at just €2.279,- but you can own one for only €2.079,-

It's finally been proven: the Mitakon Lens Turbo Nikon G/Ai to Micro Four Thrids (MFT or M4/3) works on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera! And judging by this short sample footage - it's not even bad at all!

There's an aspect of post production which I've put off for a long time: backups and archiving projects. Mostly because every method out there came out to be a pretty expensive, or at least - more expensive then I'd like. But I ended up with a slightly simpler solution which works great for me, and is very manageable.

Emm from CheesyCam just released a warning about the Mitakon Lens Turbo for Micro Four Thirds (MFT or M4/3). The message is clear: this adapter/focal reducer will not work on the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera (BMPCC).

The Sandisk Extreme Pro 128GB card has dropped below the $100 / €100 mark! Big milestone. Almost two years ago this was the point of the 64GB card, when I got mine.

Chinon have put a rather mysterious announcement on their website. The page doesn't do anything else than reveal the looks of their new Bellami HD-1 camera. A pistol-grip retro style FullHD 1080p camera. There's absolutely no specifications on the website or details whatsoever, so everything that follows is pure speculation.

Just a thought - you might want to try this with the BMPCC set to its native ASA value: 800. If you drop the ASA below 800 (or go above) it'll lose dynamic range.

I get the choice in respect for the sake of 'demonstration', but the true power of this combo would only show at ASA800 ;-) ....

That's a very interesting point. I have heard that the dynamic range is highest at 800, but I've not done any tests to see just how big the difference is. My choice was to mimic Kubrick's shooting at ASA 100 and pushing the film stock to 200. In my case I shot in RAW (so no damage was done in shooting at 200 ASA) and then I pushed the gamma a bit.

A new video has popped up on the web showing that the Mitakon Lens Turbo might work on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera after all.

Kipon have teamed up with IB/E Optics (from Germany) and are entering the game with their Baveyes 0.7x focal reducer. The optical adapter is being released to mount Leica R, Canon EF and Nikon F-mount lenses on either a Sony NEX or Fuji X body.

Calvin Chu & Ashish Bidadi have jumped on the crowdfunding wagon to get financing for their new Palette modular interaction devices. They've already raised almost 90% of their $100,000 CAD target on Kickstarter, with still 30 days to go.
