I was just thinking about this -- big lessons from my only 10 years of doing family biz (more like 10 years of spiritual journey) - to not only say that I am a 100% dependent on Allah in my biz outcome, but to REALLY understand it & feel it in my heart, then act accordingly. That means not putting one's efforts, talent and intelligence as top determinant of success. Coz then you will be finding yourself on a crazy race you yourself create that is so exhausting both physically and mentally.

(1) Pure reliance on Allah gives piece and pleasure, yet rezqi comes naturally with what feels like not even 100% work efforts (as opposed to me going kiasu in the past yet yielded more frustration than anything else). I am no longer rushing to chase after success. When things done right, success (no matter small or big) just comes. I remind myself to NOT try to finish my work first and then perform solat. It should be the other way around coz it signifies my priorities and my extent of reliance to Allah, hence determines the barakah in my efforts. No matter how smart and hardworking one can be, if Allah says NO it ends with a NO note. And I shouldn't argue if others are not working as hard or smart, for Allah knows better his/her extent of reliance to Allah, the barakah in his/her efforts may exceed mine.

(2) Doing the right things (like trying to help people) alone is NOT enough ... but one too should do things right (like NOT tricking people or stealing along the way!). This is NO Robin Hood. Most people claim to have good intentions, but people should always be reminded that the end doesn't justify the means. You can't manipulate people to your needs, then think/say you are doing what you are doing as jihad in the path of Allah. You don't steal people's ideas or throw lies and then get millions and think that you can start doing good things like charity. While I am a victim to these sorta things, it is still a good lesson for me, a good reminder (what if I have done this without even realizing). We only need one unhappy victim to hold all the golden nuggets from falling into our pot of gold.

(3) To put my heart & best efforts in my work. It shows. And I would make clients and myself happy :) Well maybe not all clients will be so happy but chances are sincere good work WINs hearts. Less mouths speaking nasty true stuffs about my biz, the more flourishing biz will be in sha Allah. If people still complain with false accusations, it is then beyond my control and to be left to Allah. So I try my best to give good work though the various limitations I have in my working environment - it is NOT easy working from home with 7 kids!!

(4) Do istikharah and seek Allah's guidance. It surprised me how fast Allah show things sometimes. Sometimes though it seems that Allah reserve the signs for later for some reasons (some of which I would much later discover, and realize why it was shown a little later to me). It can be just a gut feeling which later be followed by a scene/happening that supports that gut feeling. Like the past months I have been feeling uneasy about something but tried to ignore it. Then the feelings just started mounting and that's when I started to do istikharah for it. WOW he showed the signs alright - AMAZING masha Allah! We all should do istikharah coz it's amazing. Period.

So yea ... barakah is a BIG word. And these are big lessons I've learnt in my humble 10 years of doing my family business, Carwin Solutions with my wonderful hubby & kids. A long way to go CARWINS but we'll get through it together bold and strong!

Feeling blessed that people love my design works, but seriously ... designing slows down my web programming activities. Planning on permanent switch from design hat back to programming hat. No no no... actually ... Need to put on my entrepreneur hat instead and NOT be boxed in with programming and design works so I can be MORE.  #hopeful   #changemanagement
