So who do we want to be playing in the semi final? Or, who will we most likely be playing?

I think the matches this week will be good to watch, and should be tight. I'm tipping Central Coast to get over Adelaide, and I think Sydney might just do enough to get over Melbourne.

I'm hoping for a Sydney FC semi final, which would be great.

Thoughts?

Well, I was wrong about Sydney so there's a good chance I'll be wrong about the Mariners as well :)

Who doesn't love an ancient epic! As a teacher of ancient history, I love seeing the interest that people always have in understanding the ancient past. It never fails to intrigue people! #historyteacher #comingsoon

Looking forward to 2015 movies "The Roman" and "The Lost Legion." "Plebs," on the other hand...not so much. http://ow.ly/vMSpj

Something new everyday.

562 years ago today, Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci the Italian Renaissance polymath: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and writer was born "at the third hour of the night" in the Tuscan hill town of Vinci.

One of the most influential genius's of the last century, not only he painted some of the most beautiful of paintings of his time, he also  remains one of the most mysterious of renaissance men.

Happy birthday, and thank you for the mystery that is you Leonardo!

This is a good, short and well-argued essay by Paula Michaels at +Monash University . She rightly identifies the importance of academic historians, as opposed to those who predominately produce popular history. Studying my Masters with a focus on Ancient History and Modern History, it is amazing to see the depth of investigation that historians undertake to reveal insights into so many aspects of our past. All of these inquiries contribute to creating a holistic picture of how human society has developed, and lessons that can be learnt for the 21st century.

Currently I am exploring the Peloponnesian War and the role that the Megarian decrees played in bringing about this devastating conflict, among other causes. The work that has been done in this specific area reveals that in -fact, despite 2500 years, nations are still treating each other in similar fashion and reacting out of similar fears. #historyteacher   #edchat

A good animation exploring Lenin. Whilst the arguments propose a black and white justification of Lenin's actions and the system he replaced, it is important for students of history to understand the many dimensions of historical events that are not easily categorised. Often in history every side has has acted and reacted from less than righteous motives. #historyteacher #history

New dating for Rome. #historyteacher

Ancient Rome just got a little older. Excavations inside the Roman Forum have found the remains of a wall dating back to 900 BC – suggesting that the Eternal City was settled two centuries earlier than previously believed.http://ow.ly/vJZ9U
The city of Rome is two centuries older than previously thought, archaeologists say, as they uncover new artefacts during an excavation of the Forum

Feedback plays such an important role in the learning process. I am wanting to continually learn about the best practice for this. I think feedback needs to be specific and attainable for students. It is one area that I want to read more research on. #edchat
