Aside from the four years I spent at Penn State University, I was a New Yorker living in Manhattan for my whole life. That all changed in July 2013, when I moved to Los Angeles (Marina Del Rey to be exact). It was a lifelong dream to experience life on the other coast, so here I am!
I'm married to my beautiful and super-smart wife Heather Crawshaw
, who is a Global Mobility ninja (I made up that title - sounds cooler than "Manager, Global Mobility), working for the Estee Lauder Companies. If you don't know what Global Mobility is now, you'll know soon enough. In our Global economy, it is becoming more and more important for corporations to have a fully-baked policy for moving expatriates around the world. Heather is at the forefront of that.
Although I never expected it to happen, I'm a fully converted "cat guy," evidenced by the steady stream of photos of my cat Max that you'll find shared via various photo streams.
As of June, 2013, I'm the Chief Strategy officer at Laundry Service
. I spend my days helping top brands navigate the marketing complexities brought on by this social consumer revolution. I oversee development and implementation of integrated strategies across owned media channels, paying close attention to the important relationship between paid, owned and earned (converged) media.
Previously, I was Channel Manager at Big Fuel
(the original "pure play" social media agency), trying to keep the social in social media by creating lifestyle content that consumers actually care about. Here's the story
of what led me to that job, and changed the course of my career forever.
I consider myself a "digital native," although I'm not technically within the generation of humans dubbed "millennials" that often carry the title. Sometimes I get up on My Digital Soapbox
and share thought pieces on current digital and social media trends.
For a while there, I was spending a lot of time on my fan advocacy cause as the creator and editor of NYY Stadium Insider
. You can explore the fruits of my labor at the press page
of my now semi-defunct weblog and you can follow my steady stream of in-game Yankee tweets @StadiumInsider
. I'm a huge Yankees fan.
Finally, I'm an original and hardcore Eve 6'er, proudly keeping the Eve 6 fan community engaged and up to date with one of the few (or possibly only) active Eve 6 fansites - Eve 6 Media HQ
It seems obligatory to mention that the views expressed here are my own (although I'm well aware of the recent digital privacy paradigm shift
that requires us all to "think before we post" and represent ourselves in social media the same way we would when meeting someone in real life).
