Introduction
Rose Arianna McGowan is an American actress and singer. She is known for her role as Paige Matthews in The WB Television Network supernatural drama series Charmed. She played Ann-Margret alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Elvis Presley in the CBS mini-series Elvis. In 2008, she was guest programmer and co-host of TCM's film-series program, The Essentials.

She made her film debut in the 1992 comedy Encino Man, where she played a small role. McGowan then appeared in the 1996 hit horror film Scream and starred alongside Ben Affleck in the 1997 coming-of-age feature Going All the Way. Later, she appeared in several Hollywood films, including Devil In The Flesh (1998), Jawbreaker (1999), Ready to Rumble (2000), Monkeybone (2001) and The Black Dahlia (2006). In 2007, she was cast in the double-feature film directed by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino Grindhouse. She also portrayed the character Grace in the crime thriller film Fifty Dead Men Walking (2008).

In 1996, McGowan was the cover model for the Henry Mancini tribute album Shots in the Dark, and was the face of American clothing company Bebe from 1998 to 1999. She has also appeared on numerous magazine covers, including Seventeen, Interview, Maxim, GQ, Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stone. She has also frequently been featured on Maxim, FHM and Stuff magazine's sexiest women lists.

Her upcoming projects include an adaptation of Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian (2011) and the horror-thriller Rosewood Lane (2012).

My favourite reaction after #DAWN debuted at +Sundance Institute | Film Festival was from one lady who told me that she threw up after watching it. For me it was a compliment.

Dear viewer,

Dawn is a cautionary tale. We hurt girls with casual negligence. We change the course of lives with a stereotypical view shared thoughtlessly. We shape the minds of the innocent. Let's think different and be better.

My inspirations were varied - I wanted the color palette of The Parent Trap (1961) the loneliness of an Edward Hopper painting, the driving tension of Night of the Hunter mixed with Hemingway's unsparing style of editing. These greats are my teachers.

I layered a lot into Dawn and feel it's best watched twice. Please enjoy for free and pass it on. THOUGHT+ART = FREEDOM

Peace,

Rose McGowan

For me, as a filmmaker, it's not even about focusing on a female-centric perspective, but rather about developing a story-centric one. DAWN has both. Watch it June 22nd.

You gave me a great idea. Normally when I write, I like to visualize someone who fits the character, both physically and (what I believe to be) personally. As the story is envisioned as a trilogy, the character is a strong, tough, woman who also happens to have a substantial maternal instinct, even though she doesn't have a biological child. In the first film she has a relatively minor role but the character's presence becomes more prominent throughout the course of the story until she actually becomes the main antagonist in the final film.
I had always visualized this character a older but while looking at your community, it struck me that you've had a wide range of roles but almost always project an inner strength no matter what.
