This International Women's Day, I celebrate all the amazing women who surround me. All those who have inspired me, mentored me, journeyed with me and those I admire. But I would also like to celebrate the women who don't get that much attention from us, the women who toil to give us that amazing cup of coffee, the women who work behind the scenes, away from the limelight…I'd like to celebrate the WOMEN IN COFFEE. They are my new heroes! 😊 In the past years, I traveled with the @philippinecoffee board and the IWCA ~ International Women's Coffee Alliance, to farms here and abroad and have witnessed how women are a huge part of the coffee chain. Men do the plowing, planting, pruning and lifting…but women do the picking. Women pick coffee cherries from the trees and sort the cherries and beans. This job is often done by women because they have the patience and the meticulousness. Coffee farming, is, in fact, a family and community activity. There are so many people involved in getting you that beautiful cup of coffee. It's not just about the cafes and baristas, it's about these wonderful people who work in these coffee farms, people, who ironically, may have never tasted the coffee they harvest.
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY to all the women out there! Happy #IWD
to all my sisters! 😊 #womensday #womenincoffee #iwca
