The thing about knowing you don't know all the answers, but also knowing that nature is amenable to reason, is that when you see something that makes you curious, you know you will probably find the answer if you look hard enough. With nature, that answer will be interesting, thought-provoking and will mean you will understand nature just a little better.

Sooner or later as an atheist on the web, you're going to run into the Cosmological Argument. This often comes in the form of the "Kalam argument" or its modern form promoted by William Craig.

Perhaps a creationist would like to tell me whether they regard the Hobbit as a human or an ape, or some intermediate species, or maybe even a failed experiment by their creator god when practising to make proper humans.

Part of the reason I haven't been blogging quite so much in recent weeks is because I have been writing another books.

No, not another book about my usual subjects - general science, biology, atheism, religion and it's fallacies - but a much more personal book; a book about my childhood in rural Oxfordshire in the 1950s and 60s.

Science is not actively trying to refute creationism. Indeed, for serious scientists there is nothing to refute because creationism doesn't even rate as a scientific theory. And yet science is continually refuting creationism quite casually and incidentally on a daily basis.

As it's Easter and the time for good-will to all men... now don't start... just because it's not Christmas there's no reason to bear ill will, is there? Anyway, in this season of goodwill to all men, is it not time someone spoke up for poor Judas Iscariot - possibly the most maligned man in all literature.
