35 years ago today, President Reagan welcomed home the freed American hostages from Iran by saying, “You are home, and believe me, you're welcome. If my remarks were a sermon, my text would be lines from the 126th Psalm: ‘We were like those who dreamed. Now our mouth is filled with laughter and our tongue with shouts of joy. The Lord has done great things for us. We are glad.’ You've come home to a people who for 444 days suffered the pain of your imprisonment, prayed for your safety, and most importantly, shared your determination that the spirit of free men and women is not a fit subject for barter.”

The best display of the 25 US Presidents that I've visited. Lots to see. My only complaint is the staff, which do there job great, are a little too uptight. You can't walk into the gift shop without 4 different people asking you if you need help. I don't mind being asked once, but 4 times is a bit much. At Air Force One AND Marine One, I was instructed to pose for a photo, in which I waved as if I was the President. Then, at both locations, I was instructed to keep me hands down for a 'more professional photo'. I came to see the President and pay my respects. I didn't come to the library to be told that I'm not being professional. Maybe the staff needs to lighten up a bit. Usually an uptight staff is a direct result of an uptight supervisor. So, I feel sorry for the staff who might be under the gun of somebody who is too strict, and sucks the moral out of the work environment. It's good to be professional and protective, but you can suck the fun out of an adventure by being overly professional. The staff at the Nixon library were way more relaxed

This place is a must-see for anyone that lives in the LA area. It's not a long drive, and the facility is amazing. The museum section is like a chronological history of RR from his youth, to his college football days, to his acting to his political career. The amount of memorabilia on display is priceless, from the flag that draped his coffin, to the actual suit he was wearing when he got shot, to his personal diary that he wrote in each day he was in office. There's also great displays with video footage, tons of photos, and a history lesson of his accomplishments. There's even a huge section of the Berlin Wall that you can take a photo with. But the real highlight of the day for me was walking through the Air Force One plane that was used by Nixon, Ford, Carter and RR -- and also the Marina One helicopter! The hangar that houses them also has a motorcade display where you can see a presidential security limo up close. You can see the entire facility in a few hours if you don't stop to read through every single display.

I have been to a few Presidential Libraries, but none can compare to the Ronald Reagain Presidential Library. Just as he was bigger than life when President, his library is off the charts too. Being able to go into Airforce One was a thrill. I loved being reminded of the sad state our country was in, and how his vision turned the country around. It is sad that we are back in that sad state again. We need another Reagan.

If you pay attention to the negative reviews, they are all very clearly politically motivated and do not give an accurate picture of the library. So, let me try to give an objective review: (1) The locations is spectacular, w/a marvelous view of Simi Valley high above the rolling heals. (2) The grounds are peaceful, quite, relaxing, very "presidential". (3) The architecture and exhibits are world class. (4) A fully furnished oval office is recreated full scale. (5) You can walk through Air Force One and Marine One, see Reagan's limo, etc. (6) There are detailed and interactive displays from Reagan's childhood, acting career (props and costumes), governorship, and presidency. (7) There are gifts from all over the world from various leaders and dignitaries on display. (8) There is also part of the Berlin Wall, the collapsed World Trade Center, Reagan's grave, etc. (9) Often, there are temporary exhibits of great interest. Recent exhibits have included cars from the Peterson Automotive Museum, artifacts from George Washington, etc. etc. (10) Tour guides and volunteers are knowledgeable and friendly (11) Admission is very reasonable. The Reagan Library is a must see if you are in this area.

I have only been to two, but I would have to assume this is the most family-friendly of Presidential Libraries. There is Air Force One displayed in a magnificent setting, and you can board and tour it. There is a pretend-presidential podium you can take great photos while standing in. There is a mock-up of the Oval Office that looks very authentic, and there is a repro of the Berlin Wall complete with holes and tunnels that your little ones can crawl through if they are so inclined. There are stirring videos, memorable quotes, glancing summaries of Ronald Reagan's life and times, and an enormous amount of focus on the time he survided an assination attempt by John Hinckley. Nancy's dresses and gowns are devine. A video about communism-and-the-second-half-of-the-20th-Century is terrifying. AIDS is not mentioned anywhere, an omission faithful to the man's legacy of total inaction in the face of that particular crisis. The Library is dedicated to promoting the myth of Reagan. Fans of Reagan will love this place, but critics of his life and legacy should visit here also - not to become fans, but to gain a better understanding of the symbol that is Ronald Reagan. You'll have to get your understanding of the man from a different resource.

I really enjoyed the tour of the Reagan Library. It was fun to remember who he was and what he did for our country. I learned a lot of new things that I didn't know before as well as got to walk thru Air Force one. Awesome!
