Flinders University does have an incredible Computer Science & Engineering campus now at Tonsley, and we are cutting edge (so yes, there is a learning curve for us staff!)   #FlindersAtTonsley

The best coverage of the budget around - #FirstDogOnTheMoon
This year’s budget wasn’t as Mad Max as last year’s. Neither was it that nice. Really it was pretty boring and now we have to hear all about it

We in IT do not value our past because it is so recent, but it has huge amounts to teach us if we listen...

With How Old Do I Look?, Microsoft is harvesting thousands of faces. Uh, isn't that creepy? No ethics discussion as usual. Technology seems to once more be about adoption then discussion....

One of my most favourite worlds. Ook.
Give me a Librarian and Granny Weatherwax, a Death, and Binky. Happiness. /t
Terry Pratchett’s Discworld might look intimidating — there are 40 books, and they’re humorous fantasy, which seems like it could be an acquired taste. But everybody should read at least one Discworld book, because they’re wonderful, and there’s something for everyone. Here’s our complete guide to Pratchett’s masterwork.

Pratchett's books hold pride of place on my bookshelves.
I think people who have never read him are missing out.

Seriously, my disability is not permission for you to interrogate me. I don't know you.
When people think of physical disability, they often think of physical limitations, but there are other limitations that come along with it. Disabilities also create many social barriers. Seeing as I take any opportunity to minimize social awkwardness, I made a handy list of a few things to avoid do

As the parent of a kid with T1DM, I also get the "I couldn't do what you do", and it's also annoying.

Grace Murray Hopper- Queen of Code, a documentary
Throughout her life, Grace Hopper contributed to major computing projects that we still use today. She was named National Computing's "Man of the Year" and yet, many people don't know too much about her. The Queen of Code, a short documentary by Gillian Jacobs about Hopper, is out to change that. The documentary celebrates the life of a pioneer in the world of computer science and whose name is mysteriously absent from many history books. Even di...

It's not women who are the problem in IT....
Silicon Valley's male-dominated culture could cost the technology industry the thing it values most: innovation.

I've never understood the appeal of boxing. Especially if following s known, serial abuser of women.
Last week, Floyd Mayweather announced that he will fight a rematch with Marcos Maidana on Sept. 13. Their first fight, two months ago, was Mayweather’s closest challenge in years, with many in the boxing media believing that Maidana had earned the decision. And while that bout may have failed to meet expectations at the box office, the competitiveness and controversy are sure to make the sequel the biggest fight of the year. More important from M...

I agree, why, with so many casual gamers, are there not more fun educational games for adults? (Yeah, the Lexica thing is right up my alley, don't care who it is aimed at. ) /ft
There are learning games for babies, and for toddlers, and for children, and for students. What about everyone else?
