MAKE MONEY AND MEANING

Ask us Filipinos what our most pressing problem is and most of us will respond — poverty. We have equated the term “poverty” to “economic poverty” or “poverty of money”; the solution of which is to “make money.”

In Filipino, the word we use to mean “making money” is “hanapbuhay” — another term robbed so much of its richness. Literal translation of hanapbuhay is search-life but common usage has been to search (just) money.

Having been a Filipino for half a century, I have come to know that our poverty is not just poverty of money but also poverty of meaning. What we Filipinos should be doing is applying “hanapbuhay” to the deepest sense of its meaning — to search for life.

To solve our most pressing problem, we Filipinos should learn how to make both money and meaning.

HELP FILIPINOS LEARN TO MAKE MONEY AND MEANING

Dear Friends,

This educational blog aims to help my fellow Filipinos learn how to make money and meaning; this is my personal advocacy, my labor of love.

If you feel that my cause is worth doing, and if you think that I am effective in helping, then maybe I am also worth supporting.

With all my heart, I thank you for your generosity.

PAGTATAPOS
Parang kailan lang
Kung panaho'y babalikan
Mga pangarap na binuo'y
Malapit nang makamtan
Bagong yugto na naman
Ang ating haharapin
Pangarap at tagumpay
Ay pilit nating abutin
Chorus:
Pag-akyat sa entablado
Ikintal sa isip at puso
Hirap at pagod ng mga magulang
Ay alay sa inyo
Isang munting pasasalamat
Ialay sa kanila mula sa inyo....
