Based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, Roland Fawcett is a commercial photographer, who also enjoys shooting weddings, events and family portraits. He enjoys the variation this provides and applies the same enthusiasm and professionalism to both types of work.

On a commercial basis he covers PR, editorial, portraits, still life, architectural, interiors and corporate events. He shoots both in studio and on location - but prefers the creativity, variety and challenge that location photography provides.

Roland trained for a professional qualification at the highly acclaimed LMU Department of Photography and Digital imaging at Harrogate college. Here he learnt not only the advanced aspects of photography and digital imaging, but how to produce magazine quality images on a consistent basis in his own creative style. Since then he has developed long term relationships with a number of key commercial clients, with whom he has developed an excellent working relationship.

Prior to a career in Photography, Roland worked for 12 years within the creative, design, print and imaging sectors - principally in account management roles. This background ensures that Roland not only appreciates the whole creative process - he also knows how to interpret and work to a brief, work to deadline and provide professional customer service. Roland likes (where possible) to work with a client on a project from the very start so he can submit his ideas and thoughts on the direction of the photography.

Roland has embraced digital technology and shoots using Professional Canon equipment. He enjoys the level of control it gives him over the presentation and quality of his work. He handles the workflow from start to finish including: editing, colour profiling, photoshop re-touching, print (when required) and burning of CD's.

A nice business profile/ portrait shoot I did recently using a well known prestigious country hotel as a location. Jennifer wanted some really nice, eye catching informal photographs to use on her website she was launching and social media, Linked in. etc. She also needed images that could lend themselves to banners on her website. The shoot was only just over an hour and we made fantastic use of the surroundings at the location to create a good variety of images, with a different look to them. I was really pleased with the result, as was Jennifer: "the photos look absolutely fantastic! I’m thrilled with them and can’t wait to use them on my website".

Great to see my work looking so big and so beautiful on a website. Obviously it helps when they are the most beautifully designed and crafted kitchens, from local company Treske, who are based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. Ive been photographing their beautiful creations for over 10 years now and they just get better and better.

LIFESTYLE AND FAMILY PORTRAITURE HARROGATE
#portraitphotography   #portraitsession   #portrait

Frequently I am asked to take portraits of families or groups of friends, sometimes these sessions are to celebrate an occasion - such as a significant birthday, or so that the resulting photographs can be given to a relative.

I like very natural looking images, so my preference for these types of photo-shoots, is to head outdoors. Now the weather is often unkind for us in the UK, and the days are short in winter. Typically getting everyone together means that shoots are limited to weekends too.

That's why as we approach Summer, and we have the lighter evenings, it can be a great time to book these sessions in. Quite often the evenings are the best time of the day when the wind drops and the evening light here in the UK can have a sublime quality.

Following the shoot, you will have access to an amazing gallery, where you can view the images full screen, share the images with friends, select favourites, interact with me on line and have the option of purchasing very high quality prints and other display products.

Because of my other photography commitments, with commercial photography and wedding photography, availability is limited, so if you are interested in this kind of relaxed informal shoot, its best to contact me as early as possible to discuss potential booking slots.

It's always a challenge making things that initially appear mundane, visually interesting and appealing - but its what a good commercial photographer does. Its carefully crafted images that sell products.

Dynamic high contrast studio lighting, careful presentation of the fabric and macro photography did the trick here... and of course a handy professional photographer arranging all this and taking the shots!

This is the cover of a corporate booklet for one of my clients. It uses thumbnails generated from a number of portraits I took of various employees. The brief was for them to be looking to camera, to engage the viewer and for them to be photographed in different environments around the head office. You can see the full sized, actual shots here:
