My newly acquired 1977 Moto Guzzi V1000 Convert. This is a shaft drive automatic originally designed for the US police.

Great thought about restoring memories not just a motorcycle. (Currently restoring 1971 BSA B50T.)

Love space movies? Will Interstellar be the next big sci-fi hit?
With a stellar cast and top notch production, Interstellar could be the next big space movie, following on the success of Gravity. But this +Entertainment Weekly review is lukewarm, awarding the flick only a B-. Oh well. It might be worth seeing if you are really into space movies. It's out in theaters tomorrow, so if you go to see it, let us know what you think.

As the rare director whose singular vision is buoyed by infinite artistic freedom, Christopher Nolan would be derelict if he didn't take gargantuan risks. It's…

Does religious belief preclude acceptance of alien life?
This +io9 article discusses whether some religions would have difficulty accepting the reality of alien life. "There are some people who claim that if God had created extraterrestrials, then there clearly would be words in the Old and New testaments, which we would have already found, that would have said explicitly that God created extraterrestrials—and since those words don't exist, there can't be. Well, there's nothing in the Old and New testaments that talks about telephones either, and telephones do seem to exist."

The list of known planets beyond our solar system is ever-growing. To many, this suggests the day when scientists detect signs of extraterrestrial life could soon be at hand. When that day comes, which religions will struggle to reconcile such a discovery with their beliefs – and which will adapt in stride?

The idea that we're alone in the universe is a relatively new one. Benjamin Franklin, Voltaire, Roman Catholic scholars from the 16th century on, had absolutely no difficulty imagining people living on other planets - even on the moon.

Every year that I attend CES in Las Vegas I reach a point of sensory overload. It's not just from all the people, lights, noise, and smells, but an overload of product strategies and emerging trends for the coming year. With everything from R2D2 showing up outside the convention center, ...

Ubisoft gets slammed
Assassin's Creed is a great game, but the new multiplayer version has some potentially "fatal" flaws. Aside from bad publicity, Ubisoft also suffered a 12.8% drop in its share price as a result of the botch up.

Introduction
Blast to the past
Born in England, raised in Africa. Wandered around Europe for a bit. Went to university and studied biology. Then I came to the States and studied more biology at the University of Oregon, where I developed skills in data analysis and advanced statistics.

After leaving Oregon, I led natural history and photography tours to the Amazon rainforest, culminating in the world's first travel guide to the Amazon, published 1997, with a third edition in 2007.

I love to write about the biggest jungle of them all, the Amazon rainforest. The third edition of my book The Amazon: The Bradt Travel Guide was published in August 2007.

My second travel guide, Amazon Highlights, was published February 2012 by the UK's Bradt Travel Publications. To share my love of the rainforest, I published my first website Jungle Photos in November 2000.

I've built on that experience to develop a unique perspective to the web and social media - a depth of experience I bring to bear in my professional work developing social media solutions.
