More legit than the others, I think. I'd feel more inclined to reward Adobe for Flash than I would to reward the others for merely existing.
I think they're a little late. If anything, their 9% royalty demand will just push everybody over to HTML5 sooner.
Kind of a sensationalist headline compared to what they're actually doing, but yes... a big change from the past where everything was free to access. It won't effect any of the 2D sprite games that popped up in the wake of Flixel, but the Unity3D Flash exporter? Oh, you bet that will be effected.
I'd just as soon kick Adobe devs in the nuts for the atrocity that is Flash, personally. If this is finally the tipping point that sinks Flash, I'll be very, very glad.
