Please help bringing back the Konsole background-mode:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=320783

Just recently I found a great feature in Konsole I wasn't aware of after  more than a decade using KDE and Konsole: background-mode. "konsole --background-mode" allow us to toggle its visibility with a global shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+F12 by default).

This allows us to serve our daemons that doesn't run in background (think of "rails server", "grails run-app", "guard", etc) to run in a Konsole window and only toggle it when you're interesting in seeing the application server during development or tests failing messages, for instance, instead of having the Konsole to show up in the windows' list when you press Alt+Tab.

I've been trying to achieve something like this in the last few days using kdocker, ksystraycmd, alltray, etc. None of them supports assigning a global shortcut to the application and kdocker has some bugs that will prevent my keyboard from working in the Konsole window sometimes. ksystraycmd will only work a few times but after it stops working it will only work again with konsole if I log-off and log-in again...

This konsole option just works wonderfully! Please, don't let it die.

P.S.: what I'd really love would be a native option in kwin that would allow us to send any window to the background (don't show up in the Alt+Tab list nor in the task bar) and restore with a custom keystroke.

I don't think the background-mode option has anything to do with background colors...

Finally found some time for publishing an starter article for my new oojs gem focusing on OO JavaScript programming and testing:

Introduction. Despite the fact that I don't like the JavaScript language, we can't just avoid it. Client-side programming allows for better user experience and less network traffic and is requ...
