We went tonight on a private sleigh ride. Our driver was fantastic. The horses were beautiful. The weather was just right. But, that Santa… oh my goodness, he was spectacular. I have never… ever… met a Santa more enthusiastic than him. He has rejuvenated my own belief in flying reindeer and a jolly old man who brings shiny, wrapped packages. Thank you! Wonderful job, yet again!

If you have ever ridden a horse before, you will not enjoy riding with RMO. If this is your very first experience on a horse, you'll get to sit on it for an hour or so. If that's all you're looking for, this is it! The horses are very trained to completely ignore anyone on their back. I grew up on a small farm with a couple horses and a few dozen head of cattle, riding mostly on a cutting horse. I definitely don't know everything about horses, but I can handle myself comfortably. The horse I was on had been taught (or rather, probably learned) to completely and unequivocally ignore whoever is on their back, once they get in line and are following the guide horse. Mine actually ran my left leg into an open cattle gate (ouch!) no matter what I did to try and get the thing to move, haha! So if all you want is a control-less ride and you can take selfies the entire time because you don't even need to hold the reigns, this is it!

We did 3 winter activities: snowmobiling, horseback ride and sleigh ride to the ice castle. The horseback ride was excellent. The trail overlooking the frozen resevoir was breathtaking, and it was a beautiful trail with amazing things to look at. I'd highly recommend the horseback ride to anyone. Amazing. The sleigh ride was okay. I realize we did the cheaper one, and I suppose you get what you pay for. We drove through a meadow for about 5 minutes to the ice castle, which was really tourist trap, but that's not RMO's fault. The sleigh itself was excellent, but doing it again I'd get a private sleigh loop instead of the sleigh shuttle. The snowmobiling was not great. So here's the deal with RMO's snowmobiles: they have no snowmobiles. They do booking and customer service for another company based out of Strawberry Bay in the middle of the national forest about an hour away. If you go to the address on RMO's outfitters site (like we did) and find nobody there (like we did) that's because there's not supposed to be anybody there! Looking back, there is wording in the email booking on directions on how to get to "Strawberry Bay Lodge,' but being from out of town I just assumed that was RMO HQ and my trusty GPS would lead me to it. Nope. IF YOU ARE GOING SNOWMOBILING, GO TO STRAWBERRY BAY LODGE. NOT ROCKY MOUTAIN OUTFITTERS. IF YOU NEED TO ASK ABOUT YOUR TRIP, CALL STRAWBERRY BAY. NOT RMO. The RMO guys work with horses and the sleigh rides, and they know about the SBL, but they don't work there. As for the snowmobiling itself, it was awesome. A beautiful tour with permissive guide who was equal parts protective, professional, and happy for us to get ourselves in a little trouble. I have no complaints about the snowmobiling itself, just the arrangement with RMO and SBL. If I'd have realized where I was going it'd be 5 stars easy.

I absolutely loved my sleigh ride with Rocky Mountain Outfitters; my niece was thrilled with the sleigh ride! The staff was absolutely fantastic and the horses were beautiful.

Very misleading website on times for their Sleigh Rides. We purchased a ticket thinking it was AM and when we drove OVER an hour away ... it was for PM. After Diana argued with us...our money was refunded. Tonight when we go back to the site AM and PM has been added. So I guess the customer was RIGHT! Very disappointing on how they treat their customers...an apology that we drove so far for NOTHING would have been nice! :-(

I purchased a sleigh and dine package for Valentine's Day and was quite let down. The sleigh ride was only 20 minutes and consisted of a loop around the edge of a golf course by a residential neighborhood. There was no nature or privacy. The dinner at the Homestead Resort was also a let down. We were given regular menus and then the host took them away and gave us a card with 5 choices on it. The portions were half the size of the regular menu items based on what other patrons were receiving and the quality was on par with canned food; salty and mushy. For the price of the package they would have still made money if they provided a longer and more intimate sleigh ride and allowed us to order off the main menu. As it was my date and I left disappointed and embarrassed (for other reasons I'd rather not discuss here.)
