Me: [reading] "[WND columnist Morgan] Brittany detailed a dinner party she had attended, during which the conversation "veered into conspiracy territory," including concerns over the government owning "$1 billion worth of disposable FEMA coffins." (The government is not stockpiling $1 billion worth of disposable FEMA coffins.)"

Me: I like that parenthetical.

Roger Carbol: Every coffin is disposable, really.

At Thanksgiving dinner, my country relatives went around the table saying something they were thankful for. One of the first led with "I'm thankful for term limits", which I thought was pretty funny.

When it came around to me near the end, after saying I was thankful to live in a high-tech age when we landed a robot on a comet and every coffeehouse has Wi-Fi, that I was thankful that due to recent court decisions, that I can marry whoever I wish regardless of their gender. My mom's reaction was to lean in and say "you're done".

She'd admonished me not to bring up religion or politics since many of them are conservative Christians. But they brought up politics first.

A comedy sketch I'd like to see:

[Jackie Chan is on line at security checkpoint at airport. It's his turn.]
TSA Agent: Do you have anything that could be used as a weapon?

+Robot Chicken could end it right there. The rest writes itself.

Once again Christians breach the wall of separation between church and state, only to hastily repair it when Satanists start stepping through.

Joshua Keating reports on Eric Garner as US media might if it happened elsewhere in the world.

"In America’s largest city, the judicial branch declined to pursue charges against a security officer who was videotaped in broad daylight choking a man to death. This came less than two weeks after courts in the nation’s often overlooked central region reached a similar decision in the shooting of an unarmed teenager. Both victims were members of the country’s largest minority group, and the killings have set off nationwide protests that have often escalated into clashes between dissidents and the security forces...."
The latest installment in a continuing series in which American events are described using the tropes and tone normally employed by the American media to describe events in other countries. NEW YORK CITY, United States—The heavily armed security forces in this large and highly militarized country have long walked the streets with...

Vox goes over Wilson's version of events. It's hard to see how anyone would buy such an unrealistic narrative.
We've finally heard Officer Darren Wilson's side of the story — and it's hard to believe.

+Mary Jakso A story more consistent with the evidence emerges from the several independent eyewitness accounts. They say Wilson pulled Brown through his window by the neck. Brown tried to pull away. A shot was fired. Brown broke free. Brown and Johnson ran away from the police car. Wilson got out and began shooting. Brown turned and raised his hands pleading with the officer not to shoot. And Wilson continued to fire, shooting Brown down.

I find the eyewitness accounts more credible than the shooter's.

Not a church to attend if you are gay, or love anyone who is. On January 10, pastor Ray Chavez shut down a funeral in progress for Vanessa Collier because a memorial video showed Vanessa kissing her wife, and he was adamant that her funeral must contain no images of her "alternative lifestyle". Her mourners ended up closing her casket and carrying it off to the mortuary across the street. Reportedly, New Hope has yet to even refund their rental fee.

Pulpit of “the most racist pastor in America”, Bro. Donny Reagan, whose sermon against interracial marriage and “hybreeding” has gone viral on YouTube. Not a place for people of color, for whites who love them, or for Christians of good conscience.

Not a safe place to send your kids. Athletes there have formed a gang called “The Rape Crew” and brazenly brag about other students they have raped. Coach Reno Saccoccia and the school administration condoned their crimes, and did nothing to discipline these students. If you care about your children, find a better school district.

A satanic sermon by PRBC’s prejudiced pastor Charles Worley proposed imprisoning gays and lesbians in concentration camps: “I figured a way to get rid of all the lesbians and queers, but I couldn’t get it past the Congress. Build a great, big, large fence— 150 or 100 mile long— put all the lesbians in there, fly over and drop some food. Do the same thing with the queers and the homosexuals, and have that fence electrified till they can’t get out. Feed ’em and— And you know what, in a few years, they’ll die out.” Perhaps he’d make them wear pink triangle patches too. Any Christian of good conscience should denounce PRBC’s depraved advocacy of gay apartheid on May 13. Seek moral guidance elsewhere.
