Article on Metta or Loving Kindness, a key ingredient of World Peace
:)
The Pali word metta is a multi-significant term meaning loving-kindness, friendliness, goodwill, benevolence, fellowship, amity, concord, inoffensiveness and non-violence. The Pali commentators define metta as the strong wish for the welfare and happiness of others (parahita-parasukha-kamana). Essentially metta is an altruistic attitude of love and friendliness as distinguished from mere amiability based on self-interest. Through metta one refuses to be offensive and renounces bitterness, resentment and animosity of every kind, developing instead a mind of friendliness, accommodativeness and benevolence which seeks the well-being and happiness of others. True metta is devoid of self-interest. It evokes within a warm-hearted feeling of fellowship, sympathy and love, which grows boundless with practice and overcomes all social, religious, racial, political and economic barriers. Metta is indeed a universal, unselfish and all-embracing love.

Metta makes one a pure fountain of well-being and safety for others. Just as a mother gives her own life to protect her child, so metta only gives and never wants anything in return. To promote one's own interest is a primordial motivation of human nature. When this urge is transformed into the desire to promote the interest and happiness of others, not only is the basic urge of self-seeking overcome, but the mind becomes universal by identifying its own interest with the interest of all. By making this change one also promotes one's own well-being in the best possible manner.

Metta is the protective and immensely patient attitude of a mother who forbears all difficulties for the sake of her child and ever protects it despite its misbehavior. Metta is also the attitude of a friend who wants to give one the best to further one's well-being. If these qualities of metta are sufficiently cultivated through metta-bhavana — the meditation on universal love (surrounding all people we dislike in compassion, etc) — the result is the acquisition of a tremendous inner power which preserves, protects and heals both oneself and others.

More than twice as many Americans died at Umpqua Community College than they did in Benghazi. There will be no House hearing twice as long or ever to investigate gun violence in America.

“I could hear my daughters screaming for me, and all I could think about was getting us out.”
When 7 months pregnant Manek Campbell saved four people from a fire in their Omaha apartment building, she became our new hero.

The report cites relatively lower costs of doing business and living among factors behind rising investor interest in smaller growing 18-hour cities such as Nashville, Charlotte and Atlanta. Meanwhile, larger gateway real estate markets such as New York and San Francisco are losing favor.

Nashville ranked among top commercial real estate markets to watch next year.

Hey, they're worth a shot:
Try one of these funny, cheesy pick up lines as an icebreaker. At least you'll get laughs, if not love.

Hip atmosphere. I wanted to try the food after seeing spots on the food network about how good the burgers are. Well, they are pretty and they taste okay. Honestly I thought the burgers would be out of this world delish and they are rather ordinary. Do go and try it. The place is cool and the service is grand. The prices are reasonable. Take your expectations down a notch and enjoy.

I love the Hercules pizza! Get it if you are a meat lover. Need veggies with your meat get the Mack. The fried eggplant makes a great topping as well. They have trivia on Wednesdays and they have expanded with a patio area! Love their pizza!

If you like hot dogs and such but hate the guilt of indulging then give this stand a try. I ate at the one on Moreland Ave. in southeast Atlanta and ordered the Gun Slinger which is a chicken chorizo link with guacamole, jalapeños and their special sauce on a hoagie style hotdog bun. Messy goodness, full of flavor and less fat! It a win win. The prices are reasonable, portions adequate

This is a quaint cafe in Serenbe thst serves baked goods and sandwiches. The prices are slightly higher compared to what you get at similar bakeries in Atlanta. The food is tasty and atmosphere is relaxed and natural. If you are in the area and hungry give it a try.

Upbeat, friendly, fun servers and cooks. Food is delish and the atmosphere makes you feel like you are dining in Thiland somewhere. Its really authentic, no frills, no pseudo fancy-ness. Just good food amongst good people tucked in the corner of a shell of a shopping plaza. Go find it. Yum.
