Ingress 1.94 screws with resolution once again.
Apparently I have bad sight.

Imagine Niantic adds the following change to Ingress.

Every million MU that is attached to a portal adds mitigation and adds 1000xm per million that is required to flip it.

This would mean:
A L8 portal with 14+ million MU would be unable to be flipped (Since an L16 agent only has maximum of 22k XM).

This would stop spoofers just flipping portals that have large fields attached, and the mitigation would make defending it easier. The only downside to this change is that the flip and redo tactic to share MU is not possible for larger fields.

Please ban these 2 accounts.
These accounts are made by already existing players and are being used. I don't care if the existing players are green or blue, but they are only made to piss off ENL and RES Belgium and the player who used to play under that agentname. He got to level 16, turned green and is now playing under a different agentname.

Takedown appeals  -
Type: Improper Takedown Appeal

Please reinstate this portal (was removed 19 Aug 2015)

De Steen is a community center housing an art academy, a  music academy, a youth house and a concert room.
Apart from its use, it also is the highest building in Bocholt making it stand out by its industial look in this rural town.

On streetview you can see it's construction has just started (Images are from 2010).
The building first opened in January of 2012.

+Douglas Williams oh letting it go for sure. Been playing since day 3 and can't be bothered anymore. The reason I made the appeal is because it was one of the first portals that I've submitted that came online, about 2 years ago... and it's a shame to see valid portals go when you see all the crap portals all around the world. But like I said... letting it go.

+NIA Ops  Isn't it about time you stop loading portals at low zoom levels (Zoom level 1-5 (World view to Continent View) and only show links/fields?
Those zoomlevels are only ever useful when big OPS have happened...
It would decrease load time and reduce server load

Better explanation since it might be confusing for some:

On zoom level 1 (the entire world), only load artifacts and links longer than 500km (plus any portal and field associated with it)
On zoom level 2 reduce required link length to 250km and so on until zoom level 6 where all portals would be loaded.

+Robin Daemen ah okay. It's 7am here and I've been Ingressing in Boston since 10pm. I'm a little tired. I say having the option to reduce data use is handy but could be enabled by default. I don't run ops for the mega field ops but my portal keys are upwards of 5,500+ km away. My ops need to be able to see all portals in New England to Ireland, France and Portugal. Give the user the choice. If we didn't like to be free to make decisions we'd all be using iPhones..... 😇 😆

Idea: Item Vault

Why? Since a lot of people complain about item limit.
What? The item vault is a large capsule of 125*level items (so a L16 can have 2000 items in his vault)

The vault can only be accessed after 2 hours of inactivity (no actions)

Why this limit? It makes it so that agents can't replenish items during activity (in case xmps are gone for instance). And thus requires planning ahead if you are going to destroy a city or participate in an anomaly.

Implementing it in the scanner is basically copy paste of the capsule loading/unloading (with an additional check if the 2hours have past)
Walter Pavlik II's profile photoFrankie Fazzino's profile photoRobin Daemen's profile photo
Anything shorter than an hour would allow agents to refill their inventory during anomalies. So you might reduce it to 1 hour but I wouldn't go anything shorter

Trekker distance explained (using mad paint skillz)

Recently I've seen a lot of posts about trekker distance not being correct etc. so I decided to try and explain it once and for all.

Ingress tracks your location at certain actions:
- Hacking
- Deploying
- Linking
- Modding
- Firing XMP
- Recharging
- Dropping/Picking up
- Checking missions
- NOT capsule loading/unloading
- NOT recycling

These actions are logged (and are also used for the speedlock when moving to fast).

Your distance walked in Ingress is calculated from the distance between your last action and the one before that.

In the picture below you can see the red line which indicates the actual path you walked.
Let's assume this total distance is 10 km.
You only hack the portals you come across along the way.

Ingress logs your actions at each of these 5 portals and uses the yellow line to calculate the distance to add to your distance walked stat.
Let's assume this is only 5 km.

Here you can see that there is a huge difference in actual walking distance vs Ingress calculated distance.

Now, how can we improve our trekker distance:

The white dots on the map indicate places along your walking route where you should perform an action listed above that logs your location. (Dropping and picking up, checking missions, recharging). This will make it so that Ingress follows your path more closely by adding more points for measuring the distance.

NOTE: The trekker distance is limited by 2 factors:
1. Speed: distance/time between actions (claimed to be roughly 6KM/hour)
2. Maximum time: an allowed maximum time between 2 actions

I hope this clears this up for those that may have wondered.
