Paul Stoffregen is working on porting Marlin to the 32 bit Teensy 3.x.
He's looking for testers with 3D printer hardware.
I just volunteered but I'll need to get some new hardware first.

Questions/Help  -

I'd like try out some Polycarbonate filament. I'd need 3mm filament for my Mendel90 with E3D hotend. Does anyone have recommendations for a supplier for US purchase? Also any tips for maximizing print quality with PC would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

+Sanjay Mortimer your price for PC at E3D is quite reasonable, even with shipping. I wanted to get some spare tips anyway, so look for an order soon, thanks.

Work in Progress  -

Yesterday I received a 2.2" ILI9341 LCD Display. I also just discovered the magnificent UTFT library by Henning Karlsen.
It was very easy to get it working with the Teensy3.0. I probably had it working withing 45 minutes of unpacking the display.
I am using the latest version of software and libraries. Teensyduino 1.18, Arduino 1.0.5, and UTFT V2.75

The UTFT library was just updated a couple of weeks ago, and has Teensy3.x support built in.
The UTFT Library is located here: http://www.henningkarlsen.com/electronics/library.php?id=51

The wiring and the code running in the video can be found here:  http://forum.pjrc.com/threads/25579-UTFT-Library-with-ILI9341-2-2-Inch-240*320-SPI-TFT-LCD-Display?p=45676&viewfull=1#post45676

I scored some Brownie points, by printing a replacement handle for our waffle maker. The original handle broke off several years ago. The handle was designed using DesignSpark Mechanical, and printed on my Mendel90 printer with E3D hotend. The filament is 3mm Taulman Bridge Nylon. Right now I can't say enough good things about this filament. So far I'm at 100% successful prints with it, except for one where the filament kinked going into the feed tube, and starved the printer.

If I had one criticism of the Taulman Bridge Nylon:  I'd say please provide a spool with wider flanges. The current spools come filled to the rim, causing tangled uncoiling and spillover.

General discussion  -

I posted a comment over on Makers, Hackers, Artists and Engineers, the other day, with regard to Adafruit's announcment of its Makerbot prominant 3D printing guide, but it was promptly deleted, and comments and resharing disabled... hmmm

I suspected something like this might happen so snapped a screen-shot after I posted.

+Thomas Sanladerer, those makers start out not "knowing any better", but because of the quantity and quality of Adafruits turtorials, they quickly are given the tools to create their own products.  This has enabled +WyoLum Emergents : Open Source Electronics
to create Open products that we could not have otherwise.  We thank Adafruit for freely sharing the design and source code for all of their products.  Think about it.  If a tutorial saves me a single hour, its value to me is $100.  They do not mark up that much.

I developed a simple Frequency Locked Analog Sine Wave generator for Teensy 3.1 to emulate a signal on a rotating machine I use at work. It outputs a smooth sine wave that's locked to a digital 1/Rev pulse train up to 2000 RPM.
Follow the link for the code.
The photo shows the blue digital input signal, and the green locked analog output sine wave.

Thanks for trying out my design on thingiverse, and for making the nice video.
My daughter agrees that it is not as comfortable as the polished brass mouthpiece, but still prefers it for marching band in below freezing conditions.
I guess the brass mouthpiece makes her lips numb when it's that cold outside.
A word of caution. one of her band mates tried to snatch one from her baritone horn, and it snapped off flush.
It was very difficult to get the broken piece out.
I have a new all metal hotend and plan to print one out of polycarbonate which should be much stronger.

Thank, and good Luck
Bob

You also can't forget the fact that you could make a few hundred of these for the price of some metal mouthpieces.

I just learned about this Panasonic I2C Infrared 8x8 array sensor.
It might have useful applications for monitoring printing temperatures, bed heat or controlling cooling.:

Temperature range for the Panasonic sensor is - 20 to 100°C, +/- 3°C accuracy, up to 10hz frame rate.  It might not work for monitoring.
USB eval board ~$75 from DigiKey, sensor alone is ~$40 ea.

Melexis MLX90620 is a
16x4 array, - 20°C to 300°C, +/- 1.5°C accuracy between 0-50C.  Frame rate up to 512 hz.
Eval board ~$370, sensor ~$84 ea. from DigiKey.

Getting either to work right requires attention to thermal design.  Emissivity of the object you're looking at changes the detected temperature, accuracy is reduced as frame-rates go up, etc.etc.etc...

I received my Teensy 3.1 today.
I've been compiling several sketches, but when I try to compile the FirstLight example sketch included with FastSPI_LED2, I receive several errors.

I changed the LED Arrangement configuration to:
FastSPI_LED2.addLeds<WS2811, DATA_PIN, GRB>(leds+18, NUM_LEDS/3);

The delay.h error I receive is:
...FastSPI_LED2/delay.h: In function 'void _delaycycles_AVR() [with int LOOP = 6; int PAD = 0]':
...FastSPI_LED2/delay.h:33:4: error: unknown register name 'r16' in 'asm'

I've attached a screen-cap of the error screen.
Has anyone else seen this, or figured a workaround?

Thanks
