On the day of the beast (his 666th recorded day on the road) the "master" completed his first sub 24-hour Oostende to Vilnius trip.

Great story! He should start again, there are more hitchhikers on the road nowadays!

Left Grigiskes @ 2015-08-26T09:05, was dropped of in front of house in Oostende at 2015-08-27T12:30. Nine rides, three with women, one with Georgian guy (who spoke Dutch), one with a Norwegian living in Liverpool.

Georgian guy was on his way to Ancona, would have been my sixth 2,000+ km ride if I had had the time...

Will be hitching from Vilnius towards Belgium on Wednesday 26 August. Usual non-stop affair. Wouldn't mind a female companion (a MM couple is just too slow) and don't mind if you only want to come along part of the way.

Will leave Oostende again on 31 August (or maybe 1 September) and are likely to repeat this trip a week later, leaving Vilnius on 4 (or 5) September), and coming back from Oostende (actually: Antwerpen) 9 September.

We've been going to this place on our way from Oostende to Vilnius for several years, and always book well in advance to make sure they have space for us, and our five (four cats and a dog) pets. The very first time there were some frowns, but nowadays they know us, and we always get the room we ask for. Breakfast buffet is (usually) fantastic, although the last time (out of season(ish)?) there was only instant coffee and no fruit. Free parking, just of the A2, in short a near perfect place when you're transiting Poland!

We regularly go to this place and it's great. The food is fresh, you can actually have it prepared for you on the spot! With a group, when you're likely to stay a bit longer it probably pays to take the all-in option, we usually just pay for our separate drinks, but even then it's fantastic value for money! They have WiFi (just as a waitress for the password), toilets are spotless, and the only downside is the lack of parking space, it can get quite busy outside given that the place seats 300 people.

Penultimate petrol station/restaurant/parking on the A2, good for filling up before entering Germany. Note that sometimes you may end up waiting long times for the pumps, due to the occasionally huge volumes of traffic. However, be aware that all fuel here is far more expensive than on the old road 92. If you're not in a hurry, better leave the A2 at the Torzym junction and fill up at one of the petrol stations on that one. Food is OK, better than on most German Raststättes, and a bit cheaper. Good place to hitchhike, with the potential to get rides directly to the Netherlands, Belgium, France and the UK.

If there is one Esso station to avoid, this must be the one. Extremely rude and threatening staff.
