So hey, I have a new book of short fiction out! Six weird Southern tales for your literary consumption. You'll encounter rural grave rituals, undead remnants, roadside perils, pro-wrestling rites, things in the woods, giant catfish, widespread mutation, racism, human sacrifice and the mystery of death. They mean a lot to me, so I hope you'll consider giving them a chance if you're the fiction-reading sort. Several of you are thanked in the introduction -- and kudos once more to Zelda Devon for that fabulous cover illustration. I think she perfectly captured the spirit of the title tale.
The Grave Stompers: Six Tales from the Southern Earth There's blood in the Southern Earth. Meet twin brothers bound to the sacred rite of grave stomping and a young girl indebted to a darkness in t...

Just exploring the link between H.P. Lovecraft and quantum physics...
Nyarlathotep has many terrible forms and embodies various avatars when representing the interests of the dark Outer Gods. For the most part, each one is as maddening and otherworldly as the last. The form encountered by Robert Blake in the dark steeple of the Chruch of Starry Wisdom is that of a ...

I wrote this a couple of years ago. Now I've pushed it back out in a new format, which is cool because it gave me a better chance to share both the box art and a peak at the films.

Here are eight horror stories I wrote. Not for the weak of stomach. Or for anyone who gets uptight about indents on the copyright page. All proceeds will go to buy my son pancakes.

Some musical inspiration for each tale in "The Grave Stompers."
Music is an important part of my writing process. It helps me check out of one world and into another. It helps me find a tale's vein and sink the needle home. So just as I did with "Eight Black Of...

Some thoughts on writing for you, plus a few words about my current fiction projects.
My friend David Striepe tagged me in this Blog Hop on the writing process, so I thought, why not? I’m horrible about updating my fiction blog and it’s always a good exercise to self-examine the wri...

One of my favorite articles from my Discovery News days, reborn on STBYM...
It's not glamorous, but it's time travel. From summer blockbusters to sensational science headlines, modern culture is constantly inundated with tales of time travel. But when you boil down the physics involved, is it possible to travel through time? To answer this question, I tracked down ...

Some of the art that inspired one of my tales.
As I relate in the notes section of "Eight Black Offerings," I tried to write the sci-fi tale "Children of IVA"  several different times, but it wasn’t until I discovered the art of Irving Norman (...

We had some serious problems with the supposed handicap accessibility of the property we rented. Sure, a wheelchair can fit through the front door, but not the doors to either bathroom. So, needless to say, the property was not really accessible for a handicapped individual. No apology, no refund. On top of that, the WIFI never worked.
