Wheels of Misfortune https://nyti.ms/2vp9f3J

This is particularly bad on cobble-stoned Greenwich, where most cyclists ride on the sidewalk instead of going over one block to flat pavement or better yet to the bike path on the Hudson just a couple blocks away.

This seems totally wrong -- a GPS receiver creates magnetic interference? "GPS does emit more magnetic interference than a mobile phone, and a mobile phone with a GPS is even more." Did the election burn out all of the NYT fact checkers? That should have been an easy one to catch.

Let’s Not Do This Again http://nyti.ms/2ehifRz

Wow. I remember in the early 2000s when I attended a Stossel book signing in San Francisco and he told Starchild, an LPSF activist, that he was throwing his vote away. Less than a decade later, Stossel is endorsing Libertarians. I wonder if David Brooks is about to take the same step.

Hillary Clinton is brilliant with terrible instincts, and Gary Johnson is... well, he's very athletic... but his instincts are right. Hillary Clinton knows everything about Aleppo and will leap at the first opportunity for military intervention, while Gary Johnson (now) knows a little something about Aleppo, but would not intervene militarily unless a strike against the United States were launched from there. That's why Clinton is losing votes to Johnson among rational, intelligent voters. A genius with awful instincts is far worse in the White House than a person of normal intelligence with better-than-average instincts, because a President often has to make decisions with imperfect and/or incomplete information. If US intelligence agencies had told President Gary Johnson that Iraq had yellowcake uranium and other WMDs, Johnson still would not have invaded Iraq. President Hillary Clinton definitely would have invaded. Hillary Clinton knowing more about weapons-grade materials than Gary Johnson knows gives her no advantage in making the right decisions. Instincts matter.

I can't stop smiling after reading this. Some justice in the universe, after all. ☺

Best Christmas Eve ever. Thank you Google for agreeing to do what the big movie theater chains refused to do. Everyone, go watch The Interview on Google Play. This was one of those rare movies that both Kai and I loved.

And to think Kim wasted his best cyber attack resources on such a silly film -- he really must have a tenuous grip on power to make stopping this comedy full of potty humor his top priority.
