I just heard that, after a long illness, Dennis Ritchie (dmr) died at home this weekend. I have no more information.

I trust there are people here who will appreciate the reach of his contributions and mourn his passing appropriately.

He was a quiet and mostly private man, but he was also my friend, colleague, and collaborator, and the world has lost a truly great mind.

My deepest condolences go out to his family.
RIP Dennis. Thank you so much for your contributions. Sad day.
A giant has fallen. It's hard to measure the impact his work has had on my life.
His contributions to the world were amazing and he knows how important they were. What more can any of us ask?
dmr was one of my heroes.
dmr WAS my hero. The C Programming Language was (and is) my favorite book of all time. I'm so sad to hear that he's actually gone, I never got a chance to shake his hand :(

I wish the best for his family.

It feels really weird to use "+1" to promote this. Thank you Dennis for your contribution to the computing world that we all build the future on. You have left your mark on history and in all our minds.
I was lucky to spend a couple hours talking with him once at a USENIX conference party, about everything but C & UNIX. :) A great, quiet, humble guy, and I hope wherever he is now he's comfortable. My condolences, Mr. Pike, and to all those who knew him better than I.
Can't bring myself to +1 this. I spent my late teens reading his book over and over again, I imagine, there are tens of thousands who did the same, having their career started by C. :(
Like +Bob Plankers I had only spent a few hours with Dennis over the years, mostly at Usenix, but he was always kind and thoughtful, a charming combination of brilliance and humility.
Never met the man in person but his work has directly influenced my life and career.
Great loss for Computer Science. I met the man only once at a conference, and he seemed a genuinely interesting bloke.
Very Sad. I've spent most of my career working in C, he influenced countless people. His legacy will live on long after I'm gone.
RIP, dmr...I still have hardcopy of an email he once sent me, settling a comp.unix.admin said "no, you're right, that's exactly what we had in mind." sigh
A wonderful mind whose contributions changed many of our lives and continue to influence us today.
That sucks! I still have a copy of K&R C at home.
My intro to C was the manual that Dennis and Ken wrote for Bell Labs...what another big loss in 2011
OJ Tibi
Thanks for C, Dennis. You will be missed.
Rest in peace dmr :-( My deepest condolences to his family and friends...
RIP: Thanks for C. Dennis. This language changed a lot of people's life...
Someone creates something before you're 3 and its always been there, before you're 30 and it could inspire your life's work, after 30 and it's unnecessary change. Dennis fell into the middle category for me. His creations were my lifelong inspirations. Goodbye Dennis.
I will miss him while I treasure his contributions to our world.
It's always sad when great people die. RIP Dannis and thanks for all.
RIP and thank you for your great work, Dennis.
Rest in peace, Dennis. You've been one of the biggest influences on modern computing of all time.
Wow. That one is a serious gut-punch. May he rest in peace knowing that he really, truly, built great things without which we'd be much worse off.
My sincere condolences to his family and a big thanks for being such a big inspiration.
Rest in peace, Dennis. :(
Who in programming (or anybody affected by computers) hasn't been impacted by C? We are all lessened by this loss. RIP.
No words are enough for what Ritchie did for our field. C and UNIX are two of the biggest pillars of Computer Science. Here's to dmr, a bonafide engineer. I wish I could have meet him in person.
It was indeed saddening to hear the news of his passing. R.I.P. Dennis.
So sad. He will definitely live on in the hearts and minds of people like me, who's lives have been touched by his work
This makes me very sad. I've used a UNIX-based OS for two years and have been coding in C for one year. Both of them have given me innumerable hours of enjoyment. RIP Dennis Ritchie, and thank you for all the contributions you've made.
RIP Dennis, your contributions to our industry will live on in our code and ideas for a long time to come. You gave us the tools to build monuments!
He is still changing my life, not only the world. Thank you very much Dennis.
TB Lim
without Dennis, there will be no unix - the first multitasking OS I ever used and encountered... Thanks Dennis!

Rest in peace, great man. Bless.
This is really sad. My best wishes to his family.
rest in peace, dmr. we are honoured to have shared some years with you on the blue ball, and we thank from the bottom of our hearts all the good work you accomplised in the meantime. aye, aye, aye, rest in peace. cheers!
C and UNIX, the bases of modern operating systems.
RIP Sir. You have no idea how C has impacted the world and the rest of us.

Very sad, thanks for all the work Dennis! RIP
Without Mr. Ritchie's work, I might be in an entirely different trade. RIP.
Few people can truly say they changed the world. And Dennis certainly is one of the few. RIP Dennis, but also thanks for making the world in which we live in today!
I am sad to hear this. rest peacefully, knowing your legacy will live on for decades to come!!!
My heartfelt condolences to you and the rest of the former 1127.
All great minds in passing will be missed and his was no exception. R.I.P. Mr. Ritchie.
That makes me sad. My condolences to his friends and family, and to you, Rob.
My condolences to his family and colleagues. I loved The C Programming language and learned so much from just a brief reading of it.
The K and R book was a great influence on me. Thanks.
RIP. Without K&R I would not have been doing this job in a so comfortable manner...
When I heard Steve Jobs died, it was sad. When I heard Dennis Ritchie died, I felt like I had just been punched in the stomach. He was a fine man and I will continue to use both of his creations for many years to come. I'm sure he already knew it, but he forever changed the world. Rest in peace and know that your legacy will carry on for ever...
This is tragic news. Rest in Peace.
Damn. One of the reasons I went to work at the Labs all those years ago. RIP.

I am very sorry to hear this. My condolences to his close friends and family.
My condolences to his family, he gave the world so much ! Thanks Dennis !!!!
RIP dmr.
K&R was a big influence on me for clarity and conciseness when I first started programming.
Very sad news indeed. RIP Dennis. You will be missed.
R.I.P Dennis Ritchie! You are truly a titan!
One of my first computer language books was The C Programming Language, thanks Mr Ritchie RIP
R.I.P, we all stand on the shoulders of giants, and you are the really giant.

Rest well Dennis. You changed the world.
Rest in peace, and thank you.
Oh dear, this is not a good year, is it :(

Rest in peace, dmr,

{ Sep 9, 1941

I am deeply saddened by this news. I didn't know Dennis well or work closely with him, like Rob and many others I know, but I am honored and privileged to have known him. I was once even mistaken for Dennis (which is odd because we didn't look at all alike) at a bar in Austin, Texas.

Dennis would deny that he changed the world, but the number of people standing on his shoulders show just what a giant he was.
Muchas gracias por todo Dennis Ritchie.
The computer science community has lost a giant. RIP Dennis.
I feel very sad, my first programming language was C which I learned from dmr amazing book.
RIP to an incredible man, much condolences to his family.
RIP dmr and thank you. I will miss you so much. Your contibution changed not only my life, but also changed the entire world.
RIP. Two luminaries in one week, this is awful.
Well, damn. I'll always treasure having had the privilege of meeting dmr (if only briefly) during his visits to Auckland University in the late 80's, just as I've treasured my printed copy of the Sixth Edition source, and all the study I did of his awesome work such as STREAMS from the Eighth Edition - which changed my thinking back then and has been a source of inspiration for me ever since.

He was modest but truly, he was a titan, and left the world a much richer place.
A wonderful contribution to the art. May he rest in peace.
we'lll always remember you.. thanks for everything you did.
This is a death to be really mourned for. This was a man who really made things happen.
It's safe to say that, if you work in IT, no matter what you do, you owe him your whole career.
I spent most of the day coding in C today, just like I do nearly every day. I suspect that many of you did as well. Even if you didn't I am sure that all of you used many programs written in C today. The impact of dmr was absolutely massive.

Thank you dmr, and I wish the best to your family.
Andy Xu
RIP dmr and thanks for bringing c to us
I want to modify all those cartoons I saw last week with Steve Jobs at the pearly gates to have St. Peter opening up a special velvet rope for Dennis and saying, "hold on a moment, this man has priority."

I cannot say how sorry I am to hear of his passing. His work lives on though! Earlier today I was teaching C programming to the next generation of coders. C will last forever, even if its creator did not. :-(
Goodbye Dennis and thanks for all the hard work. I started with your C in 1988 and will probably use it for a few more decades yet.
I'm sorry to hear this. He was one of the few programmers I really respected for their work, and without him, the world would not be where it is today. I had just looked up how he was the other day, thinking about what programmers I would like to meet face-to-face at some point; I'm sorry to hear that won't be able to happen, now.

Love and respect, DMR; to the family, you're lucky to have had him.
Thank you Dennis for all your contributions, you will be remembered..
Thanks for the fish! I thank him and the rest of the team at AT&T for a career today. My deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones
RIP, Dennis... Thank you for everything... Deepest condolences to the family... Another bright light went out this month...
With his work Dennis changed the life of so much people, he was a truly awesome man. R.I.P. Dennis, thanks to you our world is better.
I met Dennis Ritchie at a Usenix without knowing it. He had traded nametags with someone so I spent 30 minutes thinking "this guy really knows what he's talking about". Eventually, the other guy walked up and said, "I'm tired of dealing with your groupies" and switched the nametags back. I looked back down to realize who he was, the guy who not only wrote the book I used to learn C in freshman year, but invented the language in the first place. He apologized and said something along the lines that it was easier for him to have good conversations that way.

He will not be lionized the way Steve Jobs was, but he should be.
Definitely one of the greatest is gone. RIP and thank you for you magnificent contributions.
such a coincidence!

Sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
RIP. I still associate the name with the cover of that book I got to study many years ago.
As Carsten said, C--. A great loss. K&R is a work of elegance and clarity, and C and Unix remain workhorses I'm proud to ride.
Very, very sad news.
He has been a light for many of us.
RIP :(
Taught myself C one summer with K&R and it made all the difference in the rest of my life. Thanks, Dennis. RIP.
While I never directly met him, I do have an autographed copy of both K&R and K&R 2. I also remember using to get to what is now the Internet while I was at Bell Labs, and that was a machine which he administered and experimented on, which always made it quite interesting to use. He'll be sadly missed.
The World lost the great father of recent comuputing method:C and UNIX. Many computer engineer had study his K&R C and the seeds are still growning up today, of course, iOS is just one of them. R.I.P. Dennis.
I'm writing this on a wonderful, reliable *nix operating system. Wouldn't be doing it without Dennis. RIP
rm -rf dmr| echo "rip dmr" > very_sad
I've never known him, but somewhat he feels very dear to me. RIP Dennis.
Very sorry to hear this news. We just lost a giant.
My condolences to his family and friends,
Thank you. Thank you for living the awesome life you lived. Your existence has made our species propser in ways none of us but you could have imagined. Thank you.
I fear it won't happen, but in a fair world the passing of dmr would be at least as newsworthy as the passing of sj. RIP Dennis; you've left the world a better place.
I just bought his book "C Programming language" last week, and enjoy it very much. Sorry to hear that. RIP Dennis.
RIP dmr. I've been a professional C programmer and UNIX guy for 60% of my life. Thanks for all your great works. Your efforts made a significant difference in my professional life.
Another hero, rest in peace.
So long, dmr, and thanks for all the file descriptors. This is my 20th year as a unix lover.
Modern computing would be inconceivable without his contributions. A real giant of computer science and humankind. Rest in peace.
R.I.P DMR. For me, you will live forever in the lessons I've learned from your awesomeness.
The last 10 years of Apple's products were built atop some of his ideas and C and UNIX have had far greater reach, but I bet the MSM won't even carry this. At least there are many of us who know and will mourn the great loss. Thank you, Dennis.
Thanks for all the help when I was a fledgling kernel programmer oh so long ago. Mail from dmr@alice always got read first. Thanks for letting us know Rob .
thanks Ritchie, for your great contribution. Without you ,I'm sure,we won't be what we are now. RIP.
Thank you Dennis Ritchie for everything. Your language and your book taught me everything I know about programming today. RIP ...
I'll miss Dennis. he was kind to everyone, and generous to the GNU Project
Bad News. So, Sad. Thank you for Ritchie. I will pray for you. I regret that I couldn't meet you in last April for Japan Prize Award.Ceremony.
Twenty-five years ago, I picked up a copy of "The C Programming Language" by Kerningham and Ritchie. It was completely incomprehensible to me at first, but I struggled, and learned, and coded (and coded and coded). Through the years, what I gained from learning that language has given me money, but, more importantly satisfaction in my career choice. Thank you Mr. Ritchie for giving me the life I've had. May you rest in peace.
Rest in peace Dennis Ritchie.
A man that will be truly missed.
I worked with Dennis on various occasions in the halls of Murky Hill back in the 80s-90s. Rest in peace, Dennis.

sadness abounds
when greatness leaves us
but what a legacy
words do not suffice
My condolences to you Rob. This is truly a sad day. Even sadder is how little the world will understand of his tremendous impact. He certainly deserving of every bit of the remorse given to Steve Jobs a week ago.
RIP dmr, thanks for everything.
His work influenced my life deeply. May he rest in peace.
Thank you, Dennis, for everything. My condolences to your family, and may the Lord reunite us in his Glory.
+1 does feel inappropriate. I met dmr once at Usenix. Echo previous comments -- he was gracious, humble, and brilliant! It's mind boggling to contemplate the effects of his contributions to our culture and our world! RIP dmr.
I got K&R 1st edition back in 1984/1985. I couldn't make use of the book because all I had was a TI 99 4/A with no C compiler. I wasn't able to make use of it until 1989 when I finally got to use C in college. While at college I, I got access to systems running SunOS and Ultrix and OSF/1, all descendents of Unix. I fell in love with Unix, its philosophy, its way of doing things and have never looked back. It is my career, my hobby, my life. RIP dmr and thank you for everything I have today.
I remember disticntly that Clinton said, "If it's not on AlJazeera, it's not news". guys, so far we have no news stating the obvious. I pray for his health, but if indeed he has come to pass, may he rest in peace.
dmr, I will miss you.
printf("goodbye world\n");

So sorry to hear of this. HUGS and condolences to his friends and family.
Wow this hits me way harder than Jobs's death. He had an unbelievable impact. RIP.
C was the first programming language I learned in college and the one that landed me my first job. RIP Dennis Ritchie. Thank you for your brilliant contribution to technology.
Thank you, dmr, for your contribution and inspiration. You've returned from main, but my, what a good run it was.
I have been using software that he is responsible in some way of paving a path for, and I have only heard of him after he has died. RIP, and thanks for your contribution!
I meet Dennis once, maybe talked to him 5 minutes. But he left a lasting impression on me about his love for simplicity and UNIX. Another one of my hero's is dead. My deepest condolences go out to his family and to the UNIX community.
Dennis, you'll live on through your many immeasurable contributions. R.I.P.
Truly very sad indeed. My condolences to his family.
One measure of greatness is how many people you touch. dmr touched too many people to count. I could probably make a shell script reference out of that, but ... my heart just isn't in it.

RIP, Dr. Ritchie. You have our eternal thanks.
Thank you, Dennis Ritchie, for your significant contributions to systems research. Your work has had a tremendous impact on the field, and your style has influenced many other researchers, including myself.

/* Rest in peace. */
RIP Dennis Ritchie. I still have The C Programming Language on my shelf (and The Unix Programming Environment too) that I got my freshman year of college in 1987.
Another great hero falls! "All we do in life echoes eternity ..." RIP Ritchie.
My sincere condolences to the family and rest in peace Dennis Ritchie.
I still remember the first time I picked up K&R.
Thank you Mr. Ritchie, may you rest in peace knowing your contributions truly changed the world.
RIP Dennis, I still have a copy of your legendary book "The C Programming Language". Condolences to his family and friends.
I agree. While I confess I never did meet him, I did exchange e-mail on something (or it might be one of the others in that community) concerning Plan9. He was one of the best.
Dennis has been a great inspiration to me over the decades, and his contributions to the world are staggering. I'm only sorry I never knew him better. We shall not see his like again.
Life is never long enough, especially for those who love us.
Rob, thank you for letting us know. RIP dmr
You're in /dev/null with the angels now, Ritchie :(
Wow, so sad. I met him about 30 years ago, barely knew him, but he was a gentle, modest man of many wonderful accomplishments. The world will be a sadder place...
RIP Dennis Ritchie....Ever grateful for "The C Programming Language" that you co-authored.
You were one of my idols. Its a sad day indeed. R.I.P.
My school years were dominated by his contributions. We've lost one of our pioneers. You will be missed.
Thank you Dennis, you shall be remembered.
RIP Denis Ritchie, your contributions shall live forever...
JJ and I were very sorry to hear this news.
I am very saddened by the news. I knew him from the early Unix users meetings. A very kind man, super smart and wise. He and Ken Thompson really changed the world.
My hearty tribute to one of the person who also changed the world. What he did behind the scenes may not have outshined as compare to other people but but it was definitely outstanding than done by any other person. RIP
So sad !!!! very sad news. He was a big guy in the tech world.. one of the best.
Requiescat In Pace.
I was really hoping to meet Dennis someday IRL... RIP Dennis. Thank you so much for all your contributions to the advancement of computing as we know it today.
Great loss to the entire world. The whole computing universe practically stands on the work that he has done. RIP.
Insomnia, so I checked reddit only to see this sad news. RIP
His contribution to computer field is unforgetable. RIP...
RIP Dennis M Ritchie. Today started as a pleasant day, but this news makes me feel sad.
Thank you for contributions! dmr RIP you will be greatly missed.
RIP dmr. Thanks for Unix and C.
He is alive,because of C.
Sad news - I will share with my husband John Mashey
You have done well, your contributions are eternal. Thank you.
K&R showed me that computer programming could be elegant. RIP Dennis.
The impact this man had on our world: it cannot be quantitated. RIP, Dennis.
R.I.P Dennis Ritchie... my life has been changed so much by your creations.
shutdown(0); /* Never returns */

So long Mr. Ritchie. Your creations live on. You have changed the history of technology and improved the lives of millions.
Sorry to hear about this :-( .. I started my computing life with UNIX and 'C'. Thanks dmr!! RIP.
I studied C with K&R and using Unix. Thank you and RIP Dennis.
can't hit the like button on something like this. RIP
grimmelm says "Ritchie's influence rivals Jobs's; it's just less visible.". I say his influence ECLIPSES Jobs'.
My condolences to you, Rob, on the loss of your friend, and to our larger community on the loss of one our elders and pioneers.
C and UNIX changed my life. My work today, my goals, all affected by the availability and then the core principles of C and UNIX.

I never met the man, but I and the whole world are greatly indebted to him.

A life well lived, we knew this day would come but we still don't want him to go!

RIP Dennis Ritchie...

Thank you with all my heart.
Great Inventor of the modern World. He is just standing beside Steve Jobs...R.I.P....
RIP Dennis. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends. Thank you for everything you have done, and for that I am forever grateful.
RIP. You have left a legacy and hope for many to live on..
RIP Sir. It's because of you, I am able to earn more than my bread and butter. Deepest condolences to your family...
Condolences. A pity that his contributions were less 'marketable' than others. He helped make the world as as it is today.

Passing of one of the true greats - a giant to whom we all owe a debt.
Dennis will be missed, for sure. I can't count the number of times I've read and referenced "The C Programming Language". My prayers are with Dennis's family.
RIP DMR. Thanks for your contribution to the computing world.
farewell, dmr. amazing legacy.
Really sad news, he was one of the giants that shaped our field. RIP Dennis.
R.I.P. Dennis. You will be remembered forever.
I only spoke with him once. He said "zero".

RIP dmr
A great figure in CS and a great man.
We have lost a truly great man that gave us so much.
RIP. Thanks a lot for helping me put food on the table, Sir!
I will re-read "The C Programming Language". R.I.P
:( ... we are surviving because of your contributions.... thanks a lot!!! may your soul rest in peace..
Sad moment... his creations have had immense positive influence on the computing and communications systems we use today. Those provided livelihood for so many around the world. Real contribution to the society.
Thanks for 'C',Sir
God Bless his soul, His contribution to the C-language was amazing , He made people understand the antics of Programming with C easier
Very sad. My sincere thanks, "dmr". We owe you a great debt of gratitude.
RIP, Dennis. Thanks for your pioneering work, and that great little book! (not to mention C and UNIX, which we still use by preference). You will be remembered and admired by millions, for a long long time to come.
RIP, Dennis. I can't imagine software as we know it today without C and UNIX.
We lost a pioneer. RIP, Dennis.
RIP Mr. Dennis Ritchie, without you computers would have been dumb .
You are a liberator, giving two best boon for the computers the C language and the UNIX operating system , rest in peace my hero <3 We are all so grateful to you .

I'm sad to hear that. DMR is the true hero!
It is sad that Dennis Ritchie has left. His influence will be felt as long as there are computers and people who use them. Thank you Mr. Ritchie. We will miss you.
Thank you Mr. Ritchie. We will miss you.
Everybody who has ever written one line of code in C, should take a bow this day and appreciate the quality of work that must've gone behind it. The world has indeed lost a truly great mind. R.I.P. Dennis!. May you teach God some programming :)
I suppose it's such a fitting testament to the depth Dennis's influence that many of use learned of his passing through his technology. Thank you, dmr, and goodbye.
Everyone who has done programming ever would be acquainted to C&unix and would remember him forever. RIP Ritchie. The world is a far better place because of you.
It's really lamentable when genious person passes away...
so sad news :(

RIP Dennis and thank you so much for all these wonderful things you brought the world!
Very sad, RIP dmr. Thanks for sharing Rob
My first programming language is C, my first programming book is The C Programming Language. You're the one who make me today. RIP Dennis
RIP Dennis, thanks for everything. My best wishes to his friends and family.

Overall rating
RIP Dennis. Apart from his huge contributions to our world, I had the brief priv to meet him on my first US trip to a USENIX conf in the very early 90s. Nice, patient guy.
With all the people Dennis inspired, he will live on...RIP
I never met him, but somehow I feel I have known him, just a little. He has been with me all my programming life. No-one has impacted me from afar so much.
RIP, C is still one of my favorite lang.
Dennis you were a role model to me early on in my career. C and Unix have very much influenced the world. Que descanse en paz.
Thanks for all the great ideas Dennis... you were a true code poet.
My profound condolances to his family. RIP Dennis. I am sure you are teaching 'C Programming 101' to a few angels up there.
Some Geniuses shock the world with their passing; others leave with wonderous paths blazed and little acknowledgement of the accomplishments they've achieved. Godspeed Dennis.
Although Dennis is no longer with us, his legacy is huge -- and personal. I remember, young and naive, when BASIC was king, eyeballing the tape, wondering how it could include a C compiler written in C itself. Dennis gave us practical tools to create tools, tools that built families and businesses ... and nearly 40 years after we first met, I'm again helping folks write better C. Rare is the day I don't use something he designed. (Remember when 'C' simply meant 'average'?) Rest in peace, my esteemed colleague - you're in my prayers, and millions of us are in your debt.
Just consider the words people keep using to describe Dennis: not just brilliant, but humble, gracious and generous. I happened to find myself at a reception with him at Usenix many years ago, and cornered him by the drinks table just so I could have a few words with him. I was nobody, just a young geek a few years out of college, and yet he could hardly have been kinder to me. Humble and gracious indeed. I may never have met Steve Jobs, but between you and me, I think I got the better deal.

For Rob and all of Dennis's other colleagues, I'm so very sorry for your loss.
Thanks for everything Dennis, you will be missed.
Massive bummer :(

My condolences to his family and friends
I remember reading your books as a student, not as an assignment, but for pleasure...

It is strange, well not really, that you develop so much of respect and regard for people even without knowing them personally. I do not even know how he looked, haven't seen his photo. Yes, we lost a great mind! His contribution has made a huge impact in the world. RIP Sir!
The world has lost a truly great man. Rest in peace.
Sad month for the technology world. godspeed Dennis, thanks for the C. the first programming languaje I learned. :-(
Genius minds never really die. You will be remembered by every programmer and Unix person.
Си был и остается одним из моих любимых языков...
Деннис будет жить, пока живы его труды.
If not for his book, I would not be programmer...
He was my teacher. And I think many of us would say the same thing.
Please, accept me deepest sympathy.
I would love to see the G+ Ripples for this post. 6149 people shared it :-)
Thank you for all, dmr, may you rest in peace.
Thank a million Dennis for all that you have given, I am earning by bread by writing programs using C language , may you rest in peace...., and Thanks you you also Ken....
Dennis is also my great unsung hero! He taught me the beautiful C and UNIX! My deepest My deepest condolences go out to his family!
Thank you for the writing. Rest in peace.
I remember i read your book on C for pleasure not just for assignment or exams
thanks Master Dennis MacAlistair Ritchie for giving us so much gifts
The next gen won't be able to believe that someone lived with such a brilliant mind on earth. I could write this to world because of you only. Thanks dmr and RIP.
Denis was delightful and inspirational man. RIP
Dennis Ritchie will continue to inspire generations of Computer Professionals. UNIX & C mark one of the greatest achievements in History of Computing, few things would have such profound impact as these two inventions/creations. RIP
rest in peace Dennis, I speak your language too, from china
Thank you for your great work. Rest in peace.
We will never forget. Thanks for everything!
Remember him from his C book, he deserves to be remembered, R.I.P.
I was shocked to learn that he died 2011 as i never searched for the C language. I am very sorry for him. He has put life on our computers nowadays!
RIP mr Dennis. you've just change our world. ton of thanks for everythings!
I belong to India but DMR was my true hero and great mind......I will miss him to my whole life.
