Although Dennis is no longer with us, his legacy is huge -- and personal. I remember, young and naive, when BASIC was king, eyeballing the tape, wondering how it could include a C compiler written in C itself. Dennis gave us practical tools to create tools, tools that built families and businesses ... and nearly 40 years after we first met, I'm again helping folks write better C. Rare is the day I don't use something he designed. (Remember when 'C' simply meant 'average'?) Rest in peace, my esteemed colleague - you're in my prayers, and millions of us are in your debt.
