Makers can't stop making things

Do members of this Community have their own laser cutters at work or home, or do they belong to a makerspace, hackerspace, fablab club? I am starting up a makerspace called http://www.umakers.org/ in Claremont, CA. Machines can run close to 168 hours per week, but person can't. If 10 people get together to purchase a $20,000 laser cutter, each person would pay only $2000, and be able to actually cut (168/10=16.8 hours of use per week) Maybe I am the only one who is willing to share my laser cutter with others? Thanks!

Thanks for the informative write up +dstevens lv As I am building a makerspace in Claremont, CA, I am planning for the "right" equipment. I have only been to Techshop San Francisco, and noted on 2 occasions, that 2 people waited in line for 6 laser cutter/engravers, while the other ?, $1MM equipment sat idle.  I have a FSL, 5th hobby, in my garage, $4500 including some extra bells and widgets. I think the software... printing from anything digital is awesome. Where you at?

Driving Question: How can the Maker Movement help us foster a mindset of creativity and innovation in educational settings rich with the 4Cs? Wishing we had more local maker places around here too.

Even the "Ted-x" props on the stage behind Gordon for this video were "made" at Vocademy. I was at Vocademy when member Dillon was making the stage prop on their laser cutter/engraver.
