These are pretty cool photos. I have my own wee abandoned places collection on Flickr, but this somewhat trumps it!

Interesting comments from Roy Hattersley in a very balanced article from +Reuters : “It will be very difficult to defeat the next attempt to have independence for Scotland.” #ge2015

Awesome news! It will support the old instruments, too, which is just as well for me as I have the guitar, drums and keytar as well as the microphone. \m/

Interesting stuff.
Saudi Arabia refuses to cut production because it sees the end of the Oil Age coming and knows a great deal of fossil fuels will have to stay in the ground.

I don't know why I found this so hilarious. It's maybe the expression on the pilot's face when he spots the cat! :)

Really cool shots of the Soviet space shuttle. Considering how much of a death trap the NASA one proved to be, it's maybe only good fortune that the shuttleski didn't make it into regular service. #space   #spacex

considering that Buran was sent up on an Energia rocket, at least it didn't have the problem of the silly misshapen booster.

The fact that a WipEout level now renders in JavaScript in a browser as smoothly as it ever did on the PlayStation is ridiculous! #playstation   #WipEout   #WebGL
Reverse Engineering WipEout (PSX). In 1995 one of my all time favorite video games was released: the original WipEout for PlayStation. The brand new PlayStation produced 3D graphics previously unseen on living room TVs and WipEout exploited its capabilities like no other game at the time.

What's mental is that, upon sharing this with my old Sony pals, one of them pointed out that ten years ago just now we were launching the Japanese version of WipEout Pure on the PSP. It appears that time flies as fast as a Qirex! :)

I don't know why I find this funny, but I do. It's probably because I once worked in a hotel bar where I guy who had been banned from the premises would randomly sneak in and cue up Paul Gascoigne's "Fog on the Tyne" as many times as his change would allow or until he was caught and then flee. This drove everyone crazy because the primitive jukebox, devoid of electronics, would not reset even when power cycled, so we'd just have to ride it out or turn it off. Eventually we had to get the jukebox company to remove the record! #theboysareback
The boys were back in town, but I was out of the bar, because they asked me to leave.

This brought some memories flooding back! I remember +Mary Innes taking me and Cousin +Iain W to the Buck Rogers Burger Station back in the early 80's. I have no idea what I had to eat, I just remember being captivated by all the screens and sci-fi stuff.
STV's archivists have managed to unearth archive footage of Buck Rogers Burger Station, that was opened by Lord Provost Michael Kelly in November 1982.

I love this kind of thing. Most CGI I've seen still has a way to go to have that authentic look. Real models just have a certain weight to them.
This precious collection of rare close-ups of the ships used in the original Star Wars Trilogy gives us a glimpse into the great effort and detail that went into assembling them and shooting them.
