Offline-first Polymer apps are incredibly simple to write. As in, like, no code whatsoever. Platinum service worker elements are straight up magic. Check it out.

Rob Dodson: +Mark Wilbur React is an amazing library, but it doesn't actually use any of the Web Component standards (https://github.com/w3c/webcomponents). So if you make a component with React it isn't interoperable with other libraries or frameworks. This is kind of the fundamental problem with the state of the web. Every 6 months there's a new "go-to stack" forcing us to throw away our old components and rewrite them in some new framework. With Web Components, we can build components using standards based APIs, so they'll work in any context. You could build a component and drop it into an Angular app, and then in 6 months drop the same component into a React or an Ember app. That's the long term vision. Polymer is just a library which calls these standard APIs, meaning a component built with Polymer is just a Web Component and can be used anywhere, even with other Web Component libraries like X-Tag or frameworks like Angular. For the moment I'm really focused on helping these standards gain adoption (via Polymer) but ultimately I'd love to see every framework or library adopt them.

Not looking good for this part of the spec, if we are all honest with ourselves here. And that's honestly OK. You can use the polyfill as long as you want, or you can imperatively import the elements (which I'm going to start trying to do more often now).

Rob Dodson: +Stefan Alexander it's great that you're thinking of building a stocks app in Polymer, that sounds awesome. My advice would be to join our chat room polymer-slack.herokuapp.com. The entire Polymer team hangs out in there, including lots of folks from the community. If you have questions and want immediate feedback it's the best place to go.

+Simone Alessandrelli that's the topic for the next video! The short answer is you want to use Sinon.js to mock the response (Sinon comes with web-component-tester). Ümit Seren: +Rob Dodson Interesting to see that they also implement the slot-based shadow dom. Seems that Webkit are the first to implement this (or is there support in Chrome Canary?). Will there be polyfill support in Polymer or Webcomponents.js for slots ?

Rob Dodson: +Ümit Seren good question. I asked the team and they said there's a branch of Polymer with shady dom support for slots that we'll be releasing soonish. Also Chrome is working on implementing them natively. Ship date is TBD
