Yep, +Rhian Chapman. Star Trek, SPACE. It's all coming together quite nicely.
European astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti tweeted a photo of herself aboard the International Space Station, wearing a uniform from the "Star Trek: Voyager" TV series.

C. Balanced. In this case, both beakers have had the same amount of water displaced and a sphere (of unknown mass) being held stationary by an external force (finger or string).

I think an equivalent question to ask would be: how does the balance look if it were two acrylic balls suspended by string? What about an acrylic ball and a ball made of lead (suspended by a string). It's obvious to think there'd be more tension in the string holding the lead ball, but this would be just equivalent to the extra weight of the lead over acrylic.

What if the lead ball was some light wood, that could be held by a string that could "push". Same argument suggests that the pushing string would offset the differences in weight by the two different balls.

Really wish I'd had a bit of paper to hand for this. Very difficult to try to work this through in my head...

Best #xkcd What-If article in a while. Shame he missed an opportunity to put a reference in after "Space is big".

Or we could dress you in a tunic and sandals and attach your arms to a pair of Icarus-style wings...

Kitty hugs!

Seriously, watch the video. I don't get this much affection from mine, and I don't make them kill their own food!
Valentin Gruener raised a lion by hand. It was the start of a beautiful friendship that is still continuing three years later.

Very cool analysis to add this moon to potential life-bearing bodies in the universe.

Auroras wrapped around Jupiter's moon Ganymede have confirmed that a salty ocean hides beneath the world's surface—confirming to scientists that it's possible to remotely look for water on distant exoplanets.
Auroras wrapped around Jupiter's moon Ganymede, the solar system’s largest moon, have confirmed that a salty ocean hides beneath the world’s surface. The observations, made with the Hubble Space Te...

+Robert Cassels, as mentioned earlier. Bit more of a nostalgic trip down memory lane, perhaps...

Doesn't that just make you wish you were a teenager in the late seventies.

Would you prefer if we used the term "meta-wing" instead?

I'm really not sure about the attestation of removing an infinite amount of heat to get to absolute zero... It's a finite amount of heat, right? Just becomes impossible to force all the atoms in your sample to give up the final quanta of energy.

Besides, at 0K the atoms don't have zero energy, because: zero-point energy, no? (Nope, I'm not talking about Half Life)

Just heroic effort on the number plate obfuscation.

Been going here for a few years for MOT (after co-worker recommendation) and recently had my timing belt replaced on a T-reg Ford Focus. Good value, honest and quick turnaround. Difficult to find if you're coming up the hill!

Incredibly slow service, I'm not sure it is possible for service to get any slower, without going backwards.
