Wow.

That there's some cutting edge reporting, WaPo. Way to cover a late-breaking, developing news story in real time. I mean, it's only been 40-some years since The Southern Strategy.

Seriously. I smell a Pulitzer, you guys.
Are parts of the Republican base animated by racial prejudice?

I'd say it's less because of newspapers than one of our two political parties pinning its legitimacy on bears' reliance on indoor plumbing and the pontiff's religious dedication to the teachings of the Buddha. dare to suggest otherwise and you're lambasted as a political ideologue and propagandist.

I thought Winter had finally gotten the message, but it drunk-dialed us last night.

Interesting article - great analogies for understanding the role of various macronutrients (protein, fat, carbs, etc) and the role they play in diet and weight loss. Lots of valuable info, stripped of all the fad diet lingo and theorizing.

tl/dr:

1. Calories affect how heavy you are, macros affect how heavy you look.
2. There are 3,500 calories per pound of fat.
3. We burn calories, through being alive, exercising and the thermal effect of food.
4. Carbohydrates are energy.
5. Protein repairs, heals, and keeps you strong.
6. Fat regulates your hormones.
7. Fiber is nature's broom.
8. Alcohol contains calories and shuts down fat burning.
9. Micronutrient deficiencies causes illness.

Although, I did hope that Doc Brown as the cover image meant we were going to see a chart for converting Kilocalories to Jigga-watts.

Humanity is so completely self-fucked at this point, we may as well just chuck it all in and let the next species have a go at it.

Seriously.

Dun-DUNNNNN....  In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the judges who give poor people lengthy sentences for trivial offenses, and the judges who give rich people wrist-slaps for heinous crimes.

These are their stories.
A judge decided Robert H. Richards IV 'will not fare well' in prison and needed treatment instead of time behind bars.

This would, sadly, be the longest-running Law & Order series to date.  I don't see it getting cancelled anytime soon.

Introduction
My politics are unabashedly Liberal, and I occasionally post publicly on political topics du jour. Generally from a perspective aimed at pointing out the idiocy of Modern American Conservatism / Teabaggery. If FOX NEWS and AM Talk Radio are your primary sources for information about current affairs? You probably don't want to circle me.

I am an atheist, and while I don't go out of my way to publicly pick fights with religious folk in my posts, there may be the occasional post that Xtians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Scientologists, Mormons, Taoists, Hindus, Wiccans, Shintoists, Neo-pagans, Santerians, Native American Shamans, Shakers, or other religious types will find offensive. Caveat mother-effin' emptor.

I really, really, REALLY find most Internet Libertarians to be tedious and insufferable buffoons. At least Conservatives are fun to mock, but having to deal with the pseudo-intellectual earnestness of a Libertarian just makes me want to chug a gallon of industrial drain cleaner.

If you are a libertarian, it is very likely that I will end up blocking you. It's nothing personal, I just find 50% of your political ideology odious, and your manner of defending it by sticking your fingers in your ears and saying "Taxation Is Theft! Taxation Is Theft! I Can't Hear You! LaLaLa!" to be unbearable. If you are one of the rare Internet Libertarians who DOESN'T defend your ideology in that manner, then I will gladly contact some cryptozoologists - they have been trying to document your existence for YEARS.

I also post publicly about tabletop gaming, and make the occasional jab at pop culture.

Kraus is one of those Erie treasures that I'm amazed more people don't know about. As previous reviewers have noted, Kraus' schtick is that no matter what obscure doodad or widget you need, the staff will say "hold on", walk down an aisle or into another part of the store, and then magically produce it. Their staff is amazingly friendly and helpful.
