As you know I am participating in the AIDS LifeCycle this year from May 31 through June 6th, 2015. I'll be riding from San Francisco to Los Angeles for a total of 545 miles on my bicycle with many others who have pledged to raise money to support the San Fransicso AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center to provide critical services and education needed to mee the growing needs of the communies supported by these organizations. I'm riding to raise awarness and knowledge about HIV/AIDS. I ride so that someday I and others like me won't have to.
AIDS isn't over, in California alone there are 151,000 people living with HIV. There are significant costs involved with the people living with HIV and supporting clinical trials and state-of-the-art treatment that helps the folks with the disease live longer and with a better quality of life.
Something I heard the other day from an ALC volunteer is that the money we raise goes directly and immediatly to the SF AIDS Foundation and the LA LGBT Center for the services provided by these agencies. That really made me feel that much more glad I'm doing this. But don't take my word for it, go to the AIDS LifeCycle website or just google it and find out for yourself.
Some of you have already donated on my behalf and for that I thank you very much. It means a lot to me. If you haven't already, don't feel like you need to give more then anyone or give a miniumum amount. Any amount is helpful and I absolutely appreciate it more than I could possibly say. $1, $5, whatever. I'm so glad to be doing this, the folks I've been training with are some of the coolest, sweetest, amazing people I've ever met and a lot of people who tell me the ride will change my life. I feel like it already has and I invite you to join me on my journey.
