"At any one time in the UK, it is estimated that 17,000 wounded or sick veterans will be looking for employment. #FactFriday

While the stat may be shocking there is help available for our veterans.

In 2015 we donated close to £100,000 to the Poppy Factory, the country's leading employment charity for veterans with health conditions or impairments.

By providing free, ongoing employment support and bespoke opportunities within businesses across the country, they have helped hundreds of disabled ex-service men and women to restore their financial independence through sustainable and rewarding careers.

In our 10th year, we recognise the diversity in the range of people that we help and have helped.

Our beneficiaries range from the children of Naval servicemen and servicewomen, to veterans who once served.

This #FactFriday we acknowledge all of our 700,000 beneficiaries, 33,000 of which wear uniform today.

“I had terrible nightmares as well as flashbacks. I knew I was getting uptight, angry and tearful about things for no good reason. I didn’t understand what was happening to me...

Now I don’t sit there thinking I’m going mad – my brain is so much quieter. I understand what’s going on and know how to cope by putting into practice all the things I learnt at Combat Stress."

During 2016 and 2015, The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity have donated close to £100,000 to Combat Stress.
Here is Grayham's story on how his life has been changed by their continued support.

2017 is set to be a historic year in the context of both the Royal Navy and The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.

This year we will be celebrating our 10th Birthday.

Since its formation in 2007, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity has distributed in excess of £45 million since our foundation to improve the quality of life of sailors, marines and their families.

We will also welcome our affiliate ship, HMS Queen Elizabeth, into HMNB Portsmouth later in the year.

This quote from Sir Michael Fallon MP, demonstrates just how influential this year will be for the Royal Navy and the National Charity of the Naval Service.

2017 is the year of #DarkBlue #FactFriday
