Story

Futurist, New Growth Platforms
Introduction
I will share publicly news and viewpoints that illustrate how the world is changing. Now and then I include other items that reflect my values. I am a professional futurist, specialized in weak signals and novel business strategies. I have strong background in ICT and strategy.

Good Finnish intro to Google+ is here Plussaajille by Jaana Nyström. And an English one for you others here with Ahmed Zeesham.

CV: I started my career by designing an online service in late 70's. I then developed two real time operating systems for embedded devices and did research in modelling fault tolerant multiprocessor environments.  After two years in middle management I set up what was to become Scandinavia's largest ICT-training company and since then I have been involved in raising several successful high tech start ups.

I have been given a Chinese name that can also be used in web-searches 林都立 if you read Chinese.

Recent involvements include Innofactor, Sovelto and Lonix.

On the sidelines I have initiated several industry-wide ICT-projects. 1993 Multimedia Yearbook, 1996 Helsinki Arena 2000, 2001 COBA, and 2009 Supermatrix.

I have been an entrepreneur from 1984, employed by our family company R. Linturi Plc. Since 2004 I have taught c. 500 development managers how to come up with Radical Innovations. I have also sat on the board of c. two dozen ICT-startup's including two that have been listed. In 2009 and 2010 I was elected Chairman of Finnet Association, an association of 29 local telco's.

My interviews have been published in several dozen TV-channels and major papers including CBS,  PBS, Granada, BBC, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Wired, Newsweek and Time. Guest columns have appeared in Newsweek and Guardian and steady columns in Finnish computer magazines.

I have had my moments on the global podiums with presidents, prime ministers and Nobel Laureates - I felt much like Alice in Wonderland ;-D. But all celebrities are people like you and me when seen from close by. And wisest of all people I have talked with are carpenters. They know that anything, be that castles or ideas, which are built on loose foundations, will crumble. They are often the quiet types with no need to seem bigger than they are.

I am interested in futures research, novel business ideas and creativity in business strategies, and naturally in social media. I enjoy teaching and mentoring. Hobbies include science fiction, two Irish Wolfhounds, fishing, and before the computer age I used to be a radio amateur.

Bragging rights
Two consecutive invitations to speak in the World Congress on IT. Invitation by the Director General of UNESCO to be a member in High Level Group of Visionaries on Knowledge Acquisition and Sharing. Nomination for "The most innovative broadband technology" by Financial Times in 1998.

AIhetta robotiikasta - ensin huumorilla ja sitten pohdintaa, vievätkö robotit meidän työt vai lisäävätkö ne itse asiassa tasa-arvoa.

Britain takes lead in driverless car legislation!
No Drivers Lisence needed when using a driverless car in GB

Women are expected to benefit the most because almost a third do not have a licence, compared with just one in seven men. Others likely to gain include the disabled, the elderly and even children.

Look at the impressive video demo in this article
Microsoft HoloLens - may come with Windows 10
Now Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Samsung all invest in virtual of augmented reality glasses. Do we need large displays in the future? Do we need physical decorations? Do we need paint? What if all visual effects become virtual?

Oh, you thought Elon Musk had moved on past the whole Hyperloop thing? That ultra high-speed transportation system he first started talking about back in..

Best article on driverless vehicles I have ever read
Shows how we should not get stuck with small objections, but look at the larger picture. This article is a major rebuttal of the most common objections to driverless cars. https://medium.com/@mitchturck/i-find-your-lack-of-faith-in-autonomous-cars-disturbing-c5f249e9e623

Elon Musk's new project (SpaceX, Tesla, Paypal):
4.000 satellites to provide high speed internet
Branson seems to have similar ideas elsewhere. http://www.cnet.com/news/elon-musk-is-trying-to-bring-the-internet-to-space/
The SpaceX CEO wants to build a satellite network high above Earth that would speed up the Internet and bring access to underserved communities. And he'll use the profits to help colonize Mars.

I guess this "who should get merit for what" kind of stupid argument - whose project it is when it is clear who bears the financial responsibility, is just a stupid argument and you should argue with wikipedia if you have a problem. I continue to consider Tesla as Musk's project and by saying that I have no objection for other people saying that it is someone elses project. That may be true also. Why should any project be only one persons? I come from a very egalitarian country and use words accordingly. Also Paypal and SpaceX have a horde of other people who can claim it's their project. But enough of this.

3D-printed cirquits almost market ready - quadcopter printed

Nelikopteri 3D-tulostettu elektroniikan johdotuksineen!

Voxel8 3D-tulostin tulostaa elektroniikan johdotukset kappaleiden sisään. CES-messujen demonstraatiossa tulostettiin nelikopteri siten, että kesken tulostuksen sijoitettiin elektroniset komponentit paikoilleen ja 3D-tulostin kytki ohjauspiirit moottoreihin ja lopuksi tulostimesta tuli ulos suoraan käyttökelpoinen nelikopteri. Laite maksaa lähes kymppitonnin - valmiita nelikoptereita saa halvemmalla.
