CV: I started my career by designing an online service in late 70's. I then developed two real time operating systems for embedded devices and did research in modelling fault tolerant multiprocessor environments. After two years in middle management I set up what was to become Scandinavia's largest ICT-training company and since then I have been involved in raising several successful high tech start ups.
I have been given a Chinese name that can also be used in web-searches 林都立 if you read Chinese.
Recent involvements include Innofactor
On the sidelines I have initiated several industry-wide ICT-projects. 1993 Multimedia Yearbook
, 1996 Helsinki Arena 2000
, 2001 COBA
, and 2009 Supermatrix
I have been an entrepreneur from 1984, employed by our family company R. Linturi Plc
. Since 2004 I have taught c. 500 development managers how to come up with Radical Innovations
. I have also sat on the board of c. two dozen ICT-startup's including two that have been listed. In 2009 and 2010 I was elected Chairman of Finnet Association
, an association of 29 local telco's.
My interviews have been published in several dozen TV-channels and major papers including CBS, PBS, Granada, BBC, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Wired, Newsweek and Time. Guest columns have appeared in Newsweek and Guardian and steady columns in Finnish computer magazines.
I have had my moments on the global podiums with presidents, prime ministers and Nobel Laureates - I felt much like Alice in Wonderland ;-D. But all celebrities are people like you and me when seen from close by. And wisest of all people I have talked with are carpenters. They know that anything, be that castles or ideas, which are built on loose foundations, will crumble. They are often the quiet types with no need to seem bigger than they are.
I am interested in futures research, novel business ideas and creativity in business strategies, and naturally in social media. I enjoy teaching and mentoring. Hobbies include science fiction, two Irish Wolfhounds, fishing, and before the computer age I used to be a radio amateur.
