+Rip Rowan and I made this cover and video of an amazing Hello Saferide song. If it resonates with you, please share it.

Hi everyone,
I have something really important I want to share with you.
Even more important, I want you to help me share it. A lot.
No matter what your politics are, I think we can all agree that there's an awful lot of fear and anxiety around us at the moment. And that's a problem; hatred is born out of fear and anxiety.

The only way to fight hate is with love.

So we got fired up. We recorded this Hello Saferide song in two days, grabbed a camera, and made a DIY video, because we think this message MATTERS, and we wanted to get it heard right away.

While you listen to it, think about your own life. Think about the times that your path could easily have been swayed. Did you ever sit silently by while your classmates bullied someone? Have you ever sat at a dinner table while someone spouted hateful or racist comments and said nothing because you didn't want to rock the boat? Have you ever made friends without someone that was so cool only to find out that they maybe they didn't stand for things you stood for... and you found yourself torn between the new cool friendship, and standing up for what you knew in your heart was right?

I think this song speaks to all of that...
How easily anyone of us could be led off of the path of love.
We have to stay on that path. It's the only way forward.
If the message in this song and video resonates with you...
then please share it for others to see as well.
Let's all be someone's last night bus.

love,
Vanessa

I'm sorry if this seems confrontational, but I feel the need to confront.

You know how the American Right is always saying "moderate Muslims need to step up against the radicals in their community!"

Well, this is that.

Are you a white (male) American who is tired of being grouped with his racist and misogynist brothers? Then speak up!

I make my stand here.

Hi there,

This past week Vanessa and I were moved to record a DIY cover and music video of one of our favorite songs, "Last Night Bus" by the Swedish group Hello Saferide (Annika Norlin).

This song reminds us that at some time in our lives we are all vulnerable to the influence of some kind of darkness, and that darkness can only be met with light. I just love the story in the song too.

Vanessa sings and plays guitars, I play bass and drums. I also did the video. Please watch and enjoy. And if you agree with the message, please give this song a reshare here and on those other social sharing channels. Spreading a positive message is one of the best uses there is for social media.

Thanks,
Rip

I did a few remixes of songs from the +Vanessa Peters album "The Burden of Unshakeable Proof" this week. This one come out particularly good, with an edgier groove and a stripped-down, raw feeling.

Pre-Order the New Album Now

Vanessa Peters's "The Burden of Unshakeable Proof" is the the first full-length album made in my new studio!

I am extremely proud of the record and feel it is the best project I've ever had the opportunity to work on. With great performances from top Dallas artists Jason Garner and Salim Nourallah, San Antonio's Joe Reyes, and of course Daniele Fiaschi all the way from Rome, Italy.

Oh yeah - I produced & engineered the record as well as playing keys & drums. So there's that too.

Hint for all you G+ers: the album is going to drop first on Bandcamp, so use the link below, and you'll get the album right away!

Follow the link for sample tracks. Take a listen, and if you like anything you hear, please come back and reshare this post for your followers!! That's how independent music works!

We came in expecting nothing, and were delighted to find quality BBQ in this unassuming restaurant. The pulled pork was moist and smoky, and the brisket had an excellent smoky crust with a moist tender interior. Beans were first rate: not sweet, but spicy and flavorful. Fried onion strips were face meltingly hot and fresh and totally delicious. Recommended.
