A new version is available on Android. New version on iOS is overdue, samples have improved a lot since the last upload. It is a matter of the tools that I am using. Most of the time I am not able to upload. The time  window when licensed tools used, iOS version and Xcode version running on Mac match seems to be open for a short period only. I plan to continue with Delphi, and also rewrite the app using Swift, java, smart pascal, and C++. No rush on my side, I will do it properly!

Screenshots of a snapshot

I mean snapshot as in "moment in the development of the app". The goal was to show the layout of buttons.

The program implements actions. Actions are mapped to buttons, and keystrokes. The mapping of actions can change any time. For version 1.0 on Android I decided to go with 13 pages.

In order to master the operation of the app you need to know about the available actions, and where to find them. Actions can be mapped to buttons multiple times. The same button may appear on several pages. I plan to explain the mapping of actions per page, in one comment for each page.

Looking through the screenshots, I have made up a short description for each page:

Page-00 = Blank Screen
Page-01 = Sample Navigation
Page-02 = Color Scheme
Page-03 = Model Parameters
Page-04 = View Control
Page-05 = Mesh Resolution
Page-06 = Range and Scaling
Page-07 = Light and Sharing
Page-08 = Threshold Options
Page-09 = Force Mode
Page-10 = Mesh Options
Page-11 = Color Components
Page-12 = Equation and Figure
Page-13 = Texture Parameters

Puzzle: Find the Federgraph app in google play store and reproduce this image on a Nexus 10 or similar device. I will solve the puzzle when I come back from my summer adventure.

Hi, I am now happily cutting away triangles as a spare time project, just to reduce some overhead in the background. And no, what I get is still far from being a fractal. And yes, new version of the app is being tested on iPad mini and iPod touch. Still using XE4, but the mac mini in the middle between my development machine and the device is new, with all certificates renewed. It looks as if I am going to meet the deadline for version 2014. (December 31).

Testing the desktop application on OS X. If parameter L is scrolled to zero you would  see squares, as if you look down on a pyramid.

I have to stop now, cannot show all the new stuff.

But in this png image, if it was not removed somehow in the process of uploading, you will find that the first line of pixels looks somehow manipulated. I see it in Paint, when I zoom into the picture as much as possible. The picture contains the original text data stream, all the model and viewing parameters. Each byte of the text will replace the red component of one image pixel, starting at the top left, until all bytes have been written.

In the case of a white background image, the data line will look sky blue, because of the relative low values, think ASCII values, of the bytes.

Now, the drop target handler of the application has been updated, so that the data can be extracted from a picture if present. That means that you can have a low resolution preview picture, and bring it to life just by dropping it onto the application. Then you scale, alter shape, change colors, and create high resolution screenshots at the viewing angle of your choice. From now on I guess, most pictures I post will have the data on board.

It is spring time! And it was explained at the profile of +Gustav Schubert  that Federgraph translated to English means spring graph. I can't help. All the identifiers are in English, but the name of the app is in German.

Hi, I just had a hard time internally dealing with the persistence of the rotation angles when the camera is in orthographic mode, where I have to move the object itself instead of the container of the camera. But I am done now and it means that there will be samples in orthographic mode, which means that these will be immediately available for making high resolution screenshots on the desktop. With more samples to choose from and improved colors I will be able to get a version out that is fun to use, even if you only look at the provided samples. So far I did not upgrade the software needed to compile for mobile devices, nor did I port everything over to a new language. Not yet, and of course I need more real world applications for the function plotter.

It is now possible to copy a screenshot of the 3D graph (left) over to the 2D graph (right) as a background image and continue drawing on the 2D graph as the current parameter changes. Here the background image on the right looks different because the value for L has changed since it was copied. Background and previous drawings can be preserved independently.
