Did a quick shoot with the little one today. She's a very difficult model to work with so I didn't get very many shots.

My oldest daughter doing her best impression of a boarding school girl. I immediately thought of these photos as soon as I saw her in this dress. Gridded softbox from camera left and an octabox for fill from camera right.

A few of my favourites from the second roll of Kodak Gold 200 that I've shot with my Rollei 35T. Some of these are almost a year old, it's taken me a while to finish the roll and get them developed. I'm still considering to switch the camera for a proper rangefinder so I can see what I'm focusing on, but the Rollei is such a cute little camera that it's hard not to like it.

On a whim I decided to pick up the Portra pack from Mastin Labs on black Friday and I thought I should give a quick opinion of it. It's a collection of presets intended to mimic the look of Kodak Portra film.

If you've been following me for a while you know I've been using VSCO as a rough base most of my editing. I have to say though, so far I like the Mastin Labs presets better. They're cleaner and doesn't bother with faded looks and weird colour shifts.

I never use presets straight out of the box, I always modify them to suit my style and vision for the shot. However, I've attached a few photos to this post that I re-edited with the new presets, that needed very little tweaking beyond what the presets gave me. That should give you some idea of what to expect from them.

Finally, is it worth the money? That depends a lot on your style and needs. There's very few presets in the pack and the price is rather steep, even with 25% off. However, what's there is definitely quality stuff that, in my opinion, offers a much cleaner and subtler look than something like VSCO.

Been a while since I shot anything but this one turned out pretty good. Simple shot with main light from an octabox to camera left and a shoot through umbrella for fill from camera right.
