Read that the CCP admits 1/5 of farmland is contaminated. Makes one wonder how much really is contaminated.

Oh god, the new Silicon Valley TV series is way too realistic... Every freaking buzzword, every attitude, every persona, every location is so real... Cringe-worthy.

We need a a non-profit organization focused solely on auditing and fixing security in software full-time... Could be funded and staffed by tech companies. The NSA is at the very least criminally negligent at not finding (revealing?) and fixing gaping holes in common security infrastructure, thus endangering 1.5$US trillion dollars / year in ecommerce...

Helpful.

The way I'm reading this is that any server that uses the vulnerable version can get it's memory copied by anyone; encryption keys, password credentials, 2nd factor keys... The only real remediation is to monitor the services providers to make sure they've fixed it and then mass reissue everything (passwords, 2nd factor)....

It's rare to see China/US collaborative events about anything... This one looks cool.
Future Tense—partnership of New America, Arizona State University, and Slate—is pleased to announce the launch of Green Electronics: A U.S.-China Maker Challenge, an unprecedented online DIY competition focused on preventing the creation of electronic waste. The competition, a collaboration between Future Tense, China's Tsinghua University, and other partners, invites U.S. and...

Only 116 datasets and the search engine doesn't work, but some of those files are huge!

It's an amazing crowdsourcing amount but although I'm backing it I don't think it's nearly enough. They have over 200 developers which means just over 200k per developer. With the organizational overhead and infrastructure cost, that's not much more than a year of development budget. IMO, realizing the original vision is going to take a lot longer than that...

Test with: http://filippo.io/Heartbleed/

... because they still have the extension on, so it's hard to figure out if it's really fixed otherwise:

$ openssl s_client -connect github.com:443  -tlsextdebug 2>&1| grep 'server extension "heartbeat" (id=15)' || echo safe
TLS server extension "heartbeat" (id=15), len=1

China, for its part, needs to rein in a self-centered and sometimes confrontational foreign policy, which is unlikely to succeed.

Forcing through that trade pact really doesn't sound like a good deal for Taiwan...

Great view, live band but we have no idea what the food taste like since the waitress could barely utter a couple words in English. She could not make recommendations and did not understand when we ordered. Come with a Thai friend or a really specific idea of what you want.

While some dishes at Yonghe King are delicious, service can get awful at night. Smelly, slow service, cockroaches and young inexperienced employees without adult supervision plague the late hours at this particular franchise.

Ordered two dishes, they "forgot" to take down one and brought the wrong one for the order. Ended up waiting 20 minutes for no food. Employees are also the unhappiest looking I've seen.
