Tip 12/50: Leave A Wake of Value-Add In Your Path
Stop! Considering +1'ing that post? You can do better than that!...

It is so easy to +1 a post and move on but there are so many advantages to going that little bit further. Why not leave a comment or share the post...or all 3!

Leaving your thoughts, expertise or opinion on a post adds so much extra value for those of us who read the post after you. Everyone has their own take on a subject - imagine if everyone who viewed a post added their little bit extra? We'd all learn so much more from a wider spectrum of opinion and background.

This not only shows that you have liked or enjoyed the work of the original poster but you have absorbed the the information and taken the time to construct an addition, a value-add that not only the poster can benefit from but so can others. I speak from experience when I say this is so much more gratifying than a simple +1, something I won't forget as quick.

There are benefits to taking the time to respond and/or pass on too;
► Insightful and helpful comments build your reputation within your field of expertise
► Great comments and useful re-shares attract engagement, thus (supposedly) building your Author Rank
► A comment makes you more visible. No one delves through the stream of +1s but leaving a comment puts you front and centre
► Exposure on highly visible posts (such as those that make it into the What's Hot stream) can fast-track your follower building
► A comment/share endears you further to the poster and others. It shows that you a well-oiled cog in this machine we call Google+ and subsequent engagement will further gain you exposure and recognition which can lead to (the right kind of) extra follows
