Not every former employee is going to be nice and remember you fondly.
Business leaders have enough to worry about when it comes to their companies’ security.

This is a piece I put together for apptechnews, what are some ways wearable tech has changed your work environment? #BYOD
It took years for organisations to finally get a handle on BYOD when it came to smartphones and tablets.

This is a great post about how tech is changing the way people protest.

If you have been following the news out of #HongKong  for the past week or so, it seems evident that a quiet war is taking place within the world of mobile applications, malware and fake applications.

One side is using #mobileapps  to organize and communicate. The other is using #malware  to infiltrate, snoop and spy.

Whatever your thoughts on the current demonstrations are, it is clear #mobile  malware, fake mobile apps and mobile phishing is becomming a problem.

Here are my thoughts on the matter:

"Mobile Malware and Fake Apps: Hong Kong, China and The New York Times"

Have you encountered fake apps or any sort of mobile malware designed for phishing? If so, what and how did you counter it?

I feel like it's pretty crazy that 2020 is only 6 years away. #Cloudcomputing #whatwillitbelike?
Figuring out where cloud computing will be by the end of the decade can be difficult for those who don’t know what cloud computing is.

Social Media Marketing with Big Data

While everyone is aware of the prevalence of social media, not as many are aware of its implications for big data. After all, for users, social media is a fun way to connect. For marketers, it is a treasure trove of information. In particular, marketers look to social media for increased volume, variety and overall velocity of consumer data.

There is an increasing volume of data that can be gleaned from social media. Marketers search specifically for relevant information, such as terms relating to certain products or brands. Brands may maintain an active social media presence, responding to direct questions and concerns. However, many marketers will also seek out general conversation to direct other marketing decisions in both positive and negative ways. This analysis is often completed with advanced social media applications, which can be programmed to search for specific terms.

In addition to volume, social media offers new variety. Social media gives users countless ways to express themselves, including conversations, status updates, video links, location check-ins, photos and more. Marketers can use this information to effectively gauge consumers. This requires marketers to be adept with a range of social media platforms. By using tools like Hootsuite, marketers can start to form relationships with key consumers in order to achieve a broader impact. Variety can better engage consumers, giving companies new ways to make connections.

Velocity is all about the speed. Social media is an instant medium, so it is no surprise that new information can be gathered nonstop. This means that marketers have to work hard to keep up with the speed of this information. The best way to keep track of the velocity is to use alert tools to identify specific keywords across numerous platforms. However, marketers should also think ahead for major events to do active tracking during those times.

Overall, with its sheer volume, overall variety and unparalleled velocity, companies can leverage social media to learn how their brand is faring amongst consumers. This not only provides critical insight into consumers but can create new opportunities to engage with them, which can have a profound impact on the success of the brand. Social media and big data. You’ve heard the terms, but do you know how they relate and why it’s important? In my last article, I discussed the potential and eventual convergence of big data and social media. These two phenomenons go hand-in-hand; social media is today’s vehicle for user opinions and conversations to be heard …
