I have been involved in developing a new kind of candidate matching machine (vaalikone). First trialled in the Finnish 2011 Parliamentary Elections, this labour of love lives on as Shadow Election. Check out new presentation: http://www.realitycreatingmedia.com/ And vote for us ASAP in the Apps4Finland competition: http://apps4finland.fi/fi/kilpailutyot/sovellus-keskusvaalikone

Here is my presentation "Practical Steps towards being a Social Business" from this morning's seminar Zipipop hosted together with Midagon in Helsinki. My aim was to sketch a picture of the driving forces behind the need to become a social business and what a social business looks like. I mainly use examples from the work Zipipop has done with Valio and the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy (TEM). But I have also referenced related activities that are going on around the world. There is no end to the journey of becoming a social business but I hope this presentation helps you speed ahead and find the journey more rewarding; after all it's better to travel hopefully than to arrive.

Charlie Chaplin's speech is wonderful; just discovered it here via +Mikko Hakkarainen. Timely, perhaps prescient about a world with the net, the Arab Spring, and such.

Everyone needs friends to push their experiences and expand their artistic tastes. I am fortunate to have Conrad who generously took me to last night's M Ward concert in Taivastia. Of course he was better live but Spotify users can get a taste of this master musician here: http://open.spotify.com/track/4uMj6f6ImTf5R3JqNfqjgn I like this one too: http://open.spotify.com/track/6IhXvKpkx8wg1MeNfGiEAq

There seems to be a golden honeymoon period with significant new social services whereby the truly great and the great unwashed are prepared to rub shoulders together as they explore the new territory. Earlier in the year I asked a question about Plancast on Quora and the first person to comment was the co-founder and CEO. But on a more significant scale was this recent Google+ exchange of a Finnish friend of mine. See screenshot attached. And just incase you are not familiar with the name Jeff Jarvis he is a giant in web circles.
