Does anyone from Google have a problem with me re-implementing actions-on-google.js in Java? I know it means I'll need to track its changes, but it opens it up to a range of JVM platform languages and JVM based NLP options.

Should be fine. I wrote my own SDK in Java. The JSON is the definitive exchange.

Sticky - How can i support +Peter van der Walt's work?

1) Support OpenBuilds / http://openbuildspartstore.com - they'll soon be bringing me on board, so best way to keep me doing what i'm doing, is by supporting then in doing what they are doing. Besides, V-Slot is the champ of linear systems anyway (;

2) Become a Patron over on Patreon.com/openhardwarecoza

3) Send me some parts over on http://openhardwarecoza.github.io/donate via Paypal

4) buy Anything from http://www.banggood.com/?p=HO1614632392201406RX (or tag ?p=HO1614632392201406RX onto the end of any Banggood URL) - they give me a small commission for referring you, and it doesnt cost you one penny extra. Plus you can feel good about your shopping addiction (;

5) Grow my followers - share my profile and my communies, ask your friends to follow me, fork me on Github, friend me on Facebook. Whatever you fancy (Though I am most active on G+) - links to all my other profiles are over on http://about.me/peter6960

Today, along with making pastry for two pies, turning one set into a blueberry pie and getting part way through the other before my wife stopped me, I started on the necessary upgrades to my newly arrived SMT Oven from AliExpress.

This involved taking the top off, removing all masking tape and replacing it with Kapton tape, attaching you the serial headers and reflashing the os with a new one (which took hours to find the right combination that worked). Then I had to add a temperature sensor which involved hand soldering a 0804 4.7k resister to the board, scratching of the solder mask of the board and grounding another chip to it and then wire connecting the resister and temperature sensor.

There was one more thing to do but I didn't have any 2n7000's 😖

But it worked so that made me pretty happy.

Actions on Google has been made public today, and I've spent the evening with it with my Pixel and Google Home. Its fairly easy to use, the example app is in nodejs with es6.

I wanted to see how permissions worked (you can only get name and location at the moment) so I ended up tunneling through one of my own https web servers (you need https).

Without personal identifying information (such as email) being passed and private operations I think its use case is quite limited at the moment. It will be interesting to see how it progresses.
