A heads-up that I'll be doing my first MSP focused #webinar of 2019 alongside my good friend +Craig Sharp on Thursday this week!

Hosted by our friends at +Auvik Networks the webinar will focus on how Managed Service Providers can build alliance partnerships with other IT businesses to benefit from:-

* Specialist skills
* An additional resource for larger projects
* Holiday / Sickness cover (especially important for smaller MSPs)
* Geographical coverage
* 24×7 coverage

The webinar will be recorded, so if you can't attend the event live, register anyway and we will send you a link to the on-demand recording.

As always, this will be an interactive one where Craig and I answer your questions during the webinar -- ask them live during the webinar, get in touch with me or leave a comment below now!

What did your 2018 look like, and how are you going to make 2019 more successful and fun?

At the start of each new year, I take time to review the year that has gone by.

It's an essential part of my planning for the year ahead, where I ask myself questions such as:-

✳️ What did I achieve in the past year and what did I enjoy?
✳️ What am I going to achieve and what am I going to enjoy?
✳️ What can I work on in the next year that makes me smile?
✳️ How can I organise my work and my life to do the things that cause me to smile?

In my latest article, I thought I'd share what the process for my annual year review and year ahead planning looks like.

You can also see the process in action with my own personal annual review for 2018 -- warts and all!

The 2019 list of awesome events for MSPs is now here!

I’ve attended many of these events myself, and they are a great way to accelerate the growth of your business, meet new people and keep up to date on the latest trends.

Will you be attending any of these events?

Do you have an event that you feel should be included in this list?

If so, let me know!

If you’ve used WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger, you’re familiar with instant messaging.

Telegram Messenger works in a similar way — sending messages for free via Wi-Fi or mobile data — but has a high focus on security.

All activities within Telegram are encrypted. This means that even if they are intercepted, they won’t be visible to hackers.

Are you using +Telegram App? Drop me a message to say hello!

As 2018 comes to a close, I'm very proud of one specific aspect of my work -- that being my #Podcast for IT Consultants, #TubbTalk.

This year we've released episodes where I've been fortunate enough to interview the top leaders in IT and some of the most successful and smart business owners I've met.

For the last TubbTalk of 2018, episode 50, I'm interviewing one of my all-time heroes, and the man whose best-selling book "Getting Things Done" was not only a worldwide phenomenon but a life-changer for me personally.

David Allen is synonymous with #productivity. His #GTD methodology is used by movie stars such as Will Smith and Tom Cruise, plus business owners, students, artists, musicians, politicians and people from all walks of life the world over.

"We need to create an external brain to externalise all the things we spend too much time thinking about, and to overcome procrastination to getting things done". David Allen.

Today is David's 73rd birthday, so releasing the episode today is our small way of saying Happy Birthday!

Thank you, David, for taking the time to record this interview with me. It's been an amazing way to end 2018!

If you use a Cloud-based service such as Google Apps or Office 365, your data is backed up, right?

Yes, it is, but you will find that getting your data restored from those backups can be a time consuming and laborious issue. When you want to restore a deleted file or email quickly... don't hold your breath!

That's why I recommend that Managed Service Providers (MSPs) take a look at the Cloud-To-Cloud backup services such as those offered by Spanning Cloud Apps, which was recently acquired by Kaseya Intl-Limited as part of their #ManagedServices offering.

In my latest #TubbTalk #Podcast I sit down with Spanning CEO Chad Savoy and Daniel Camara to hear about the Spanning journey, and to look at how Spanning is enabling MSPs to lower their costs of support and increase their profits.

Ten years ago, at an AMITPRO meeting in Birmingham, I met Christian Nagele -- the co-owner, along with Ian van Reenen, of a startup RMM company called Centrastage.

Fast forward to the present day and Centrastage is now one of the leading RMM tools in the #ManagedServices space, after being acquired firstly by Autotask and then by Datto Inc.

In my latest #TubbTalk #Podcast I sit down and chat with Christian and Ian about their journey from a spare room in Ian's apartment to the boardroom at one of the biggest MSP vendors in the world!

This interview was an absolute pleasure to record -- I hope you enjoy listening to Ian and Christian's open and honest account of their inspiring journey.

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with the +Kaseya CEO Fred Voccola to interview him for my #TubbTalk #Podcast.

Kaseya is one of, if not the biggest vendor player in the #ManagedServices space, and have been making a number of big acquisitions over the past few months with the aim of reinforcing and growing their MSP platform.

Fred speaks openly with me about

* the challenges Kaseya have faced
* their unique approach towards successfully integrating acquired businesses and technologies into the Kaseya MSP stack.
* his approach to being a successful CEO and the books he recommends to other CEOs

This interview is a really interesting insight into one of the biggest software companies in the industry.

I hope you find it valuable!

I've been doing a lot of testing of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) lately, all of which I've featured on my regular #FridayFavourite series.

If you're unfamiliar with VPNs, then they can keep your data safe and anonymous while you're using Wi-Fi in places like cafes, libraries, hotels and bars. It's good practice to use a VPN with any Wi-Fi network you don't own.

Far from being aimed at techy geeks, TunnelBear is easy to install and use on any device -- laptop, smartphone, tablet or even (my favourite) the Google #Chromebook.

The best part? TunnelBear is free for up to 500mb a month -- more than enough for casual users.

If you use Wi-Fi when you're out and about, then definitely take a look at TunnelBear.
