You used to have to click on the pegman to activate the the locations of the Google Business Views (Gold Dots), Google Views (Blue Dots) and the Street View and Google Special Collections (blues lines).
Google have now created a little on/off switch with the new new views legend permanently on when you click in the pegman once (it does not appear in all regions yet).
The maps dots (Gold and Blue) are intermittent at the minute but I am sure that it will calm down over the next few days.
I am not surprised that Google has done this because if you look at Manhattan with the visibility turned ON the number of Gold Dots is staggering (when they are visible)!! And even some Google Trusted Photographers do not know that the pegman revealed the Google Business View locations.
