238 years ago today, 13 colonies expressed through their 56 delegates, a unanimous declaration of independence from a government that ignored the law, levied excessive taxation, created excessive governmental departments to harass the people... They provided 27 reasons for their declaration and sought to create a new government, not to protect cronyism or social classes, but based on the premise of protecting life, liberty, and property. And while our nation has never lived up to the ideals expressed by our founding fathers they gave us a form of government that inhibits the whims of democracy allowing a unique nation the opportunity to become what they envisioned. A nation that recognizes that rights are not gifts from of a state, limited by borders or institutions of people, they recognized rights are natural, that life, liberty, and property are inalienable.

We ought to remember and honor those who sacrificed their fortunes, freedom, property, and lives to forge this new style of government, the struggle to protect our inalienable rights continue to this very day and we as individuals have the opportunity to bring about the nation envisioned 238 years ago. Vote for people that promise to protect life, liberty, and property; vote out people who don't; and stop being swayed by politicians who lure you with displays of patriotism, or government benefits, or promises of mitigated risks that only enslave future generations and push them further from ever being able to realize the dreams of a nation that protect what is considered natural: life, liberty, and property.
