Over 15 years as a PR guy I have advised national retailers, government departments, small businesses and more.
It doesn’t matter whether I’m securing million pounds-worth of media coverage with just one news release or negotiating the placement of a tenpin bowling lane in the Blue Peter studio on national BBC TV I still get that unnatural thrill when I see my clients featured in the media.
It was the same way on day one. Almost by accident, I desperately convinced a reluctant colleague to dress up as Charlie Chaplin to celebrate Charlie Chaplin’s birthday (I know! Bizarre! But we got a front page in the local paper alongside businesses who had paid thousands to advertise in the same spot for the privilege!) I knew there was something in it.
I was right!
I love unearthing the stories about my clients that get people talking. And today, I am a massive advocate of the new face of PR with a fresh focus on brilliant owned media and content marketing.
