I keep sharing events in the "General" section of this Community. Is that useful? Should we create a sub-category for event announcements?

Google+ has an "Events" section of the community, but I'm not clear how to get stuff to show up there.

The Alfresco UX team is a new part of our product development process, and I expect you will find it interesting to know more about their role in the creation of the product and how you can participate.

Join us for another live session of Alfresco Office Hours, where you get to meet the people that create the Alfresco products, ask questions, and discuss their work.

This month we will be joined by the Alfresco UX Team. This newly formed team is responsible for driving user experience design and user-centric innovation at Alfresco. They ensure we continually drive to simplify our product experiences and deliver value to our customers by researching user behavior and gathering feedback. One of the topics we will cover is how you can engage directly with the Alfresco UX team and help us build products that you will love! You don't have to wait for the event to work with the UX team, but can sign up here:

http://www.alfresco.com/uxresearch

Registering for the event here will give you a reminder email. If you leave a question on this page, we will address it during the session. Or you can contact us at community@alfresco.com. Otherwise, ask your questions on #Alfresco during the live session. The event web site will include the YouTube video and an embedded webchat for our IRC channel so that you can participate in the discussion.

Don't forget to attend next week's #Alfresco Tech Talk Live for a review of the Global Virtual Hack-a-thon. There were some great projects!

Tech Talk Live is a monthly, live session devoted entirely to a technical topic related to Alfresco. Having completed the second annual Global Virtual Hack-a-thon, it is time to see what was accomplished. We will reserve the May Tech Talk Live for project demos, and discussions about what participants learned during the event. The list of hack-a-thon projects is here:

My work at #Alfresco has significantly influenced my thinking about open source business models. I put my thoughts in writing, and ended up with a blog post that is really a medium-length essay.

I am interested in comments on whether it is useful, what can be clarified, and ways in which you might disagree.

Sharing the next Tech Talk Live with this group.

Ole, Gab, and Martin have released a bunch of improvements to the SDK, and Ole wants to tell you about them.

Tech Talk Live is a monthly, live session devoted entirely to a technical topic related to Alfresco. This month we will discuss the latest release of the Alfresco SDK, version 2.1.0.

The Alfresco SDK is the easiest way for a developer to get started building applications on top of the Alfresco platform. Pull the SDK from Maven Central and take advantage of a complete development environment including hot code reloading, testing, and accompanying documentation and samples at docs.alfresco.com and GitHub. The latest release of the SDK makes it an even more productive environment, and this presentation covers those improvements.

Don't forget about Tech Talk Live next week. There were some very interesting hack-a-thon projects, and it is going to be fun to hear how they went.

The hack-a-thon is a month away, and it is time to list your project so that you can get help from others, or join a team so that you can start planning the effort.

The process is the same as last year: list your idea in the wiki, and encourage other people to join your team.

https://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Projects_and_Teams_Global_Virtual_Hack-a-thon_2015

I look forward to working with you.

Office Hours in April will last a full day, as we participate in the Alfresco Global Virtual Hack-a-thon. We will start on April 17 at 9AM in Sydney, and hack as much as we can until 6PM in San Francisco. Join us for whatever portion of the day you are available.

Details on how we will run the hack-a-thon are in the Alfresco Wiki. Please suggest your ideas there, and join a team:

https://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Hackathon#Global_Virtual_Hack-a-thons

We will be collaborating between teams using #alfresco IRC at Freenode, and we will be demoing our work using Google Hangouts at this G+ event page.

Hack-a-thon is next week, and most people who told me they are going to participate have not yet signed up on a team or submitted a project. Choosing a team in advance will help the day be more productive. The teams are listed here:
https://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Projects_and_Teams_Global_Virtual_Hack-a-thon_2015

Also, if you will be attending at an Alfresco office, or another group location, please sign up so that we can plan:

During the time I lived in Provo, I had Patterson's do all the work on my Subaru. Though he is the most competent mechanic I know, he was also one of the least expensive. He took the time to answer all of my questions and teach me a lot about my car. I am grateful for his help.

Meeting location for the Peckham Ward of the LDS Church (Mormon). As a visitor, I found them very welcoming. I feel like I made some great friends and I enjoyed worshiping Christ with them. We had good discussions about the scriptures, and I learned a lot. Services start at 10AM on Sundays.

Room was dirty. Door was broken from a previous forced entry and wasn't repaired properly so it wouldn't open reliably. There was some party going on all night with loud music. Breakfast wasn't great and cafeteria area was in disrepair. My next night in Laramie I stayed at another hotel.

Meeting place for the Slough Ward of the LDS Church (Mormon). As a visitor, they were very friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed worshiping Christ and I learned a lot from the scriptures. Meetings start at 10AM on Sundays. When asking directions, people said I should go to the "5 Points" as the closest intersection.

Had a long conversation with the estimator. Very nice and knowledgeable guy. He recommended I wait a few years to see if things get worse before paying the money for a repair. I appreciated his honesty!

For years PC Discounters have helped me meet my employer's needs, my client's needs, and my personal needs. They are very open with advice, and if they can't get a job done they tell me who can. From personal computers to racks of servers, I trust these guys with my business.
