How do I prevent the google auto photo backup app from installing on my windows PC without my permission? I have uninstalled it according to the Google instructions and - without my permission - it reinstalled itself. Installing an app to upload my photos without my express approval is spyware.

+Richard Chesher if it was asking you to configure the settings then it was already installed, I suspect you had an old version of the desktop uploader installed which was automatically updated.

If you uninstalled it then it will not reinstall itself, look for the Google Photos Backup utility in Programs and Features - also if you have more than one user account configured on your operating system you should check it is not installed for that user too.

Ahoy all yachts cruising in tropical seas. Please adopt and promote the Code of Anchoring in Coral Reef Environments (CARE); Anchor in sand, not in the coral.

I have been looking for the perfect quad drone for making sphere images of the New Caledonia lagoon and finally found one that can be easily stowed aboard Moira and even has retractable landing gear so I can get uncluttered 360 views. It is called the PlexiDrone and you can check it out here:

We spent a week photographing the sea turtles in the Marine Reserve at Amedee Island. Each day I started out with a new photo idea but I wanted this image from the very first day. I finally captured it after 7 days of following the sea turtles around.

This is an excellent opportunity for cruising yachts to make a difference in Vanuatu. Help SeaMercy by donations even if you are not going there with your yacht this year.
Donations: Sea Mercy is a US based 501(c)3 organization (Since 2012) and all donations are tax deductable. We use the secure PayPal processing for credit card and PayPal donations. Cyclone Pam Devastates the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu ...

Richard,
thank you for sharing about our Disaster Response and Recovery efforts in Vanuatu. We have a fleet of three vessels and doctors currently serving in the Southern Tafea Province and another three heading to the central Shefa Province this week. The work is shifting response to recovery efforts at this point and work is that the much needed international aid is starting to slow down (shifting their focus to Nepal and the tragedy there). Our fleet and volunteers in Tafea are tired, yet encouraged by the impact they have had. Our doctors have evaluating and treating over 1,000 villagers and delivered many tons of aid and medical supplies to the often unreachable remote islands and villages. We anticipate maintaining a presence (we are much needed) through July and into August at a minimum.

Your photo's are spectacular and you are obviously talented. I hope you can join us in Vanuatu. We could use a photographer. :)

All the best to you,

Richard Hackett

When we first discovered this secret spring we were not going to keep it a secret, a place to go and cool off in the clear water far from anyone else. But it was so pretty I just couldn't help doing a sphere image and share it with you.

Enjoy this over/underwater image of a sea turtle in the Amedee Island Marine Reserve on the barrier reef of the world's largest coral reef lagoon.

Professional Photography in New Caledonia and Vanuatu
Introduction
Frederique and I live aboard our 44' cutter, the Moira. We have been cruising the South Pacific since 1976 conducting a series of scientific experiments on evolution which led to practical tests of possible ways to change the behavior of populations of people and environmental educational programs to mitigate the continual decline of the health of our planet. By 2000 we decided that our planet has it's own agenda and it would be more fun to take photos. So we began producing the cruising guide to vanuatu and the cruising guide to new caledonia. Our latest photographic exploits include making "memory bubbles" of New Caledonia and Vanuatu.

Clear Passage succeeded in removing strictures that had blocked my colon for over 10 years. Doctors had told me the only solution was to surgically remove the restricted area of the colon. They were wrong, Clear Passage was able to do it with 20 hours of intensive physical therapy. The people at Clear Passage were welcoming, professional, caring, and really good at what they do. The clinic was clean but at the same time relaxing and calming. I simply can't say enough to thank Clear Passage Clinic for my recovery.
