At long last, cycling is being supported by American business – not out of environmentalism but because it's delivering profit

Awesome Physics Teacher Dan Burns Explains Gravity In A Way Anyone Can Understand (VIDEO)
General relativity, the geometric theory of gravity developed by Albert Einstein in the early 1900's, is today considered one of the twin pillars of modern physics. Along with quantum mechanics, it is fundamental to our understanding of the universe.

RIP, NYC Opera? For real?
If only there was an appropriate opera-related cliche to convey the news that it's all over for New York City Opera.

I read Scientists tell us their favourite jokes: 'An electron and a positron walked into a bar…'
Science is a very serious business, so what tickles a rational mind? In a not very scientific experiment, we asked a sample of great minds for their favourite jokes

Roots of California Bohemia Lurk in a Hollywood Alley http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lionel-rolfe/london-house_b_3813640.html
Maybe a block or so away from Paramount Pictures, deep in Hollywood, there's a short alley, La Vista Court, which is a real nexus of California bohemianism. It contains an unusual building with a bas relief of the great, bohemian writer Jack London.

Super awesome staff. We know a lot of people here by name. Oddly situated in a cavernous laundromat, this is our go-to Starbucks. Go team! Dog friendly, community feel.

If I ever need a fire put out, this is my station. Thanks to the men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department. :-)

Our amazing dog-daughter, #BrigitteBardog, came here to be checked and spayed. Great doctors, very clean and professional services. Highly recommended.

Hubby and I call this one "TarGay" because it's in WeHo with our gay brethren (we are gay too, ok). Great place, easy to shop, some great bargains, helpful staff. We prefer going late nights and dodge restock trucks. Favorite regular purchase: Veggie burger family packs, not usually seen in regular supermarkets. We call the Target in Glendale "Tarjay" because, well, Glendale; and the partially built, frozen-in-time Target on Sunset in Hollywood which has been standing half-built for ages, we call that one "Tar-" because it's just half there.

Awesome on all counts. They have vegan food trucks visiting on the street all the time. Get on their Twitter feed etc. to learn about food trucks. Oh and I love the vegan shoes, already bought two pair.

Garage Pizza simply makes me a happier, better person. I declare this the BEST pizza in Los Angeles. Awesome cool people work there, fast, efficient, friendly. Parking can be a disaster so recommend delivery, or park on the street (avoid parking lot). But that doesn't detract from the amazing pizza. Great for late night. I would be lost without Garage Pizza, especially Monday nights which are Half Price. We love the veggie pizza, the margherita, and the simple cheese as well. Vegan options! Yay!
