I did a test with Framebridge to verify I want them as my new framing vendor. Their pricing is easy to follow and I get a small wholesale discount - and it's eminently easier (and better quality) than framing myself.

Really loving how this Poppy After the Rain turned out in the gold frame. And thrilled with my choice to not use a mat. #framebridge

FYI, you can get 15% off your first order (for yourself) at Framebridge.com with code RICHMACKEY15. If you order one of my pics, discount already baked in.

First photo sale of 2016! "Poppy After the Rain." It's a 5x5" metallic print in an 8x8" floating mat. Client chose the frame and I was happy to help her get a deal on it. Love it!

I love doing digital but I'm still a big fan of big prints. Trying out Marvin in 3 sizes. Love this shot.

Everyone has an opinion but overall, this gives you an idea what these 7 photogs think makes a "good photo" vs. a "snapshot."

I spent 4 hours today judging photography entries at the Plymouth County Fair in Iowa (where my parents live). Was really a neat experience.

I tried my best to judge each piece fairly and leave constructive, positive, encouraging feedback. Hope that's how it was all received!

Some really great talent - even from 5 & 6 year olds!

I get asked fairly often what makes a good picture. A big piece of it is just having an "eye" for what you see, taking the shot and having a good sense of how the camera will interpret it.

That said, technical skills can help immensely - even with phone shots or point-and-shoot pics. This is a great YouTube video that spells out 9 tips in 3 minutes that anyone can master.
