Looking northwest from the Jefferson Hotel (now called the Barrister Building) in 1915, Central and Jefferson, Phoenix, Arizona. Note the trolley car at Central and Washington. The steeple at right was the Central Methodist Church. The building with the blue roof, in front of it, is where Dwight Heard built his building in 1919.

Read the link on why the newspaper was originally called the Arizona Republican. A little history for ya.
 
The old home of the Arizona Republican Newspaper, 2nd Street and Adams, Phoenix, Arizona. In 1920 it moved to the brand-new Heard Building, which is on Central between Adams and Monroe. The old building was used from 1907. In 1931 the newspaper was renamed The Arizona Republic
