Story
Tagline
Deputy Director of the Broad Art Foundation, Conference Co-Chair Museums and the Web, father of ninja twins and very rarely bored.
Introduction

I am the deputy director of The Broad Art Foundation. I oversee operational management of the foundation and support the planning and construction of The Broad museum. Additionally, I lead all aspects of planning, staffing and running the museum, focusing on operations, marketing, technology, finances, security, collections, and visitor services.

I am also co-chair for “Museums and the Web,” the largest international conference exploring the social, cultural, design, technological, economic, and organizational issues of museums in a digital world. With more than 600 attendees from 40 countries, the conference reviews and analyzes the issues and impacts of networked cultural, natural and scientific heritage.

Previously, I was the founding director of the Balboa Park Online Collaborative (BPOC), a consortium of 27 cultural organizations whose mission is to facilitate and execute the use of online technology in the museums, cultural arts, and science institutions in Balboa Park, San Diego..  .  Prior to BPOC, I was the Director of Operations at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, where I oversaw Information Technology, Operations, Admissions, Facilities, Security, capital projects and more than $70 million in ongoing construction.  I have also held concurrent positions as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Director of Facilities and Head of Library and Archives at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and before that I was the CIO of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. I also taught New Media theory, web design and animation in the Media Studies department at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Before my museum career, I practiced technology in the fields of banking, manufacturing, and worked as a field service engineer.  I also worked as a commercial diver in the Gulf of Mexico and served 6 years as a United States Marine.
