87114 is one of the leading zip codes for home sales in Albuquerque month in and out. One reason is that it covers a large geographical area, but another reason is that you get more home for your money west of the Rio Grande and 87114 has well respected schools and less crime than other areas.

Click through to see 87114 Homes for Sale.

Thinking of buying an Albuquerque home? Don't get in over your head!

In my latest article I discuss "What Does It Mean To Be House Poor?", ways to avoid being house poor, and how to get out from a house poor situation.

Being in a situation where you cannot afford a home or afford your current home due to large mortgage payments or maintenance expenses is not a pleasant experience.  Often times we may go down the road of buying a home thinking because a lender approved us for a certain amount we should buy a home based on the maximum amount of the approval.

Buying based on the maximum amount of the mortgage approval can backfire on us especially when our incomes can't handle those payments.  Read on for ways to avoid getting into a house poor situation and if you are in a house poor situation ways to try and get out of that situation.

This article includes great resources from  +Bill Gassett , +Kyle Hiscock , +Lynn Pineda , +Debbie Drummond , +The Highland Group with eXp Realty , +Bankrate , +HouseLogic  and more.

Please consider socially sharing if your find this to be useful.

What home improvements should I do before I sell my Albuquerque house?

My friend Phoenix Real Estate John Cunningham made this awesome video to educate home sellers in his market, but the same points make sense here in Albuquerque too.

If you want to know where your money is best spent before you spend it, watch this short video!

Introduction

I started selling Albuquerque Real Estate soon after I moved to New Mexico. I started hanging around the real estate business when my mom was an office manager for a real estate company back in the 70’s. My first job involved stuffing envelopes for real estate agents in her office with property flyers. Later, when my mom went to work for a real estate development team, I hung around new home construction sites watching homes be built.

I’m from Chicago, I went to Northwestern University and studied music. I was a very successful freelance musician in Chicago, playing everything from symphony orchestra gigs to Broadway style shows. I also booked engagements for other musicians. It was contracting other musicians that awakened the business person in me.

When I decided to make a career change the choice was obvious, it had to be real estate.

When I got into the real estate business it was the romance of showing beautiful homes and the idea of running my own business that excited me. Now that I'm going on my ninth year as an Albuquerque Realtor I realize it's really the people I get to work for and the people I get to work with that make selling real estate fun and exciting for me.

I also love to write. When I was in college a professor I had encouraged me to develop my writing skills. I thought he was crazy! Now I wish I had taken him seriously because I do love to write. In fact I write about real estate almost daily on my Albuquerque Real Estate Websites. It’s a labor of love, I enjoy the challenge of trying to express what I’m saying clearly so that anyone, no matter what their level of experience with real estate, can understand.

I love reading about SEO or search engine optimization and engaging on social media sites. I’m hoping some of my friends will start to hang out here on Google+ so I can be more active. Or maybe I just need to get new friends!

El Pinto is a great place to hang out with family or friends and have some margaritas. The food is good bt not spectacular, but the atmosphere is uniquely New Mexico. A great place to take out of town guests. The menu is pricey, but when I'm there I assume I'm paying for the beautiful outdoor space in addition to the food, and I'm okay with that.

This is where you go to transfer or renew your real estate license. The staff is helpful, just make sure you have all your paperwork together before you go. They can't help you if you don't.

My wife and I love visiting Ojo Caliente! It's a doable day trip from Albuquerque up to Ojo Caliente, it takes maybe 2 hours or so. We enjoy soaking in the hot sprigs tubs, then usually we have a hour long massage, lunch and a little hanging around in one of the hammocks. It's a totally relaxing experience!

I posted a picture of my damaged vehicle to my Facebook wall, and within an hour Wayne Overall, a friend of a friend, had sent me an estimate for repair. Not only was the estimate fast and easy, it was accurate too. The work turned out great. I would highly recommend Overall Services!

They have great pizza, the crust is fantastic, made in a real pizza oven. I always get the antipasto and a beer. It makes for a perfect meal. It can be very crowded on Fri and Sat, so be ready to go early or wait, but it's worth it.
